Microbiological Monitoring System SMA ICS + SMA Atrium®

Microbiological monitoring is of central importance for GMP-compliant pharmaceutical production. This is especially true for applications where aseptic processes must be monitored as completely as possible.

While in the past, air samples of 1 m³ were taken over relatively short time periods, the Veltek ICS system allows for process-related sampling over longer durations.

ICS stands for a turnkey concept for controlling various impactors – specifically including the SMA Atrium® collectors.

A key element is certainly the intuitively operable touchscreen user interface. The associated interface module is integrated directly into the wall of the aseptic production room and can be operated with minimal training. The connection of the PLC-based process and flow control is carried out via system-internal Ethernet communication. All modules controlling the sampling process are located in non-critical support areas.

Seamless integration into particle monitoring systems is just as self-evident as full qualification support from PMT.

SMA Atriums® are impactors made of high-quality stainless steel and are connected to the SMA ICS system. Due to their design, all Atrium® systems are suitable for direct use in aseptic production environments. All pharmaceutical-relevant requirements – including the D50 specifications of ISO 14698 – are met.

Especially in critical Grade A and B areas, ambient air is directly impacted onto a standard nutrient medium. The 90mm dish of the nutrient medium is then incubated and evaluated.

SMA Atriums are available in many mechanical configurations – including variants for direct wall mounting or mounting on sanitary flanges.
