Separation, deburring, and chamfering with the SilverCut at Rodriguez

Precise and semi-automatic manufacturing of linear technology products

Rodriguez's comprehensive machinery includes a SilverCut RSP-400N Nasstrenn machine. The semi-automated system handles the finishing of hardened guide shafts, guide rails, spindles, pipes, and other rod materials using the Nasstrenn grinding process. It features a special chip and deburring unit that makes the overall process more resource-efficient.

The machine has a separation area for threaded spindles and shafts up to a maximum diameter of 40 mm, as well as guide rails and flat materials up to a maximum of 50 x 50 mm. It is designed for semi-automated cutting, deburring, and chamfering, with a cutting length tolerance of +/- 0.3 mm. A special machine control allows for the automatic processing of different orders: for example, the system can handle different lengths of guide rails with variable starting bore distances. The raw material, such as pipes or guide rails, is fed into the first processing unit and pushed onto a conveyor belt. The refeeding and positioning are also automated. In the second processing stage, the raw material is separated in the Nasstrenn process at the desired length and automatically transported further. In the final step, the material is finished in the chip and deburring unit and then neatly stored.

Fully automatic chamfering and deburring

A special highlight of this system, developed specifically for Rodriguez, is the chip and deburring unit. Round materials are automatically chamfered after the separation process, resulting in a finished product at the end of the process. Resource-intensive handling steps are eliminated in favor of a quality-conscious overall process.

Powerful components from the Eschweiler supplier were used in the construction. In addition to ball guideways from the BRH series, ball screw drives with matching end bearings were installed, supporting the realization of the project goals.

Rodriguez has a comprehensive machinery park for linear technology and precision bearings, which is continuously expanding. Currently, about 50% of production is in-house, with an increasing trend. Thanks to its own manufacturing and the short decision-making paths between sales, development, and engineering, the Eschweiler company can operate much more flexibly than its competitors. This is also because most process steps can be covered in-house—from development through manufacturing to assembly and quality assurance.
