The chainflex cables were just the beginning: igus now offers a warranty of up to four years for all products with a predictable lifespan. Customers thus benefit from long-term investment security and reliable service in case of warranty claims. Thanks to the long lifespan of motion plastics, resources are conserved, contributing to increased sustainability in the industry.

Four years of warranty on a large part of the product portfolio, which is largely unmatched in the industry. Not for igus: From now on, the Cologne-based company offers its customers a warranty of up to four years on all motion plastics products with an igus lifespan calculation – and this includes the majority of the company's countless products. In the future, customers will benefit from the warranty on energy chains and chainflex cables, drylin linear and drive technology, dryspin screw technology, as well as components such as plain bearings or semi-finished products made from in-house iglidur materials. The warranty portfolio is complemented by xiros ball bearings, igubal joint bearings, gears, turntable bearings, and also 3D-printed components created with the online configurator "iglidur Designer".

Durability thanks to in-house testing laboratory

The exceptional warranty is made possible by the 3,800-square-meter testing and inspection laboratory at the company's headquarters in Cologne. There, igus subjects its products to numerous application-specific long-term and hardness tests. Over 15,000 tests are conducted annually. The insights gained from these tests feed into igus's online lifespan calculators, which allow companies to know in advance how long a component will reliably perform its function. Based on the reliable data from these lifespan calculators, it was only a small step to introduce a comprehensive 4-year warranty across its product portfolio. "The warranty gives our customers the opportunity to precisely design their individual application and always choose the most cost-effective product that will definitely work," explains Tobias Vogel, Managing Director of Plain Bearing Technology at igus. The fact that the warranty is appreciated by customers is demonstrated by the previous 3-year warranty on igus energy chains and cables. Last year, igus already extended the warranty on chainflex cables to four years, and now the majority of other igus products follow suit. The new regulation applies up to four years from delivery or for the individually calculated number of double hours or lifespan hours per product – whichever occurs first.

More safety and sustainability

Since its inception, igus has been committed to providing its customers with durable solutions that require minimal maintenance or service. "The long lifespan increases the resource efficiency for the customer and also conserves important personnel and financial capacities," says Michael Blass, Managing Director of e-chain systems at igus. With the warranty, the plastics specialist not only offers operational security to its customers but also contributes to greater sustainability and resource-conserving practices in the industry.
