Quality meets efficiency
Testo opens new location and creates 200 jobs
Testo invests in the future with new construction in Kirchzarten: The Calibration Factory provides space for further growth in the field of measurement technology services and enables continuous process optimization with the goal of customer satisfaction.
With a unique scope of accreditation, the company has developed over the past 22 years into Germany's largest provider of calibration services. Last Friday, October 8, 2021, Testo Industrial Services opened another calibration site in Kirchzarten. The Calibration Factory offers over 4,200 square meters of usable space for around 200 new jobs.
Raimund Führenbacher, Managing Director of Testo Industrial Services GmbH, opened the celebration: "The Calibration Factory is the largest investment Testo Industrial Services has made in its company history and a foundation for further growth. We transfer the service of calibration, a classic laboratory activity, into an industrial manufacturing environment. This combines proven quality with efficiency."
An agile approach paired with the proactive mentality of the Testorians is the key to the success of the Testo Group, explained Prof. Burkart Knospe, Chairman of the Board of the Testo Group, and congratulates: "I wish Testo Industrial Services a successful move into the Calibration Factory, with the efficiency, effectiveness, and continued growth desired by management."
The new building includes several calibration laboratories, a large order processing area, and logistics sections. The automated warehouse can manage more than 7,000 bins with testing equipment. The precision of experienced employees and state-of-the-art equipment are combined with a lean-oriented production approach. Processes are efficiently aligned in the modern facilities, and high-quality standards are further expanded. Automation and digitalization of processes are central — following the guiding principle "Quality meets Efficiency."
Both the equipment of individual workstations and the entire logistical process have been tailored to the increasing order volume. The ground-level design of the various work areas along the material flow is supported by automated conveyor technology. Calibration orders are provided to employees at the right time and place.
In addition, sustainable energy concepts were considered during construction. The building was constructed according to the low-energy standard KFW 55 and is powered by its own photovoltaic system with a capacity of 99 kW/p (around 104,000 kWh). The roof surfaces are greened and serve as natural air conditioning. From 0°C outside temperature, outside air is used for cooling. Heating is provided by certified wood pellets from the Black Forest on modern and environmentally friendly burners.
