The Dairygold Co-Operative Society Ltd. is Ireland's second-largest dairy cooperative. The home of the cooperative is the Munster region in southwestern Ireland. Annually, approximately 960 million liters of milk are processed from around 3,000 milk suppliers. This accounts for about 18% of Ireland's milk quota. Dairygold is recognized as a pioneer in dairy efficiency. Over the years, the company has extensively invested in modernizing its facilities and operational procedures and has become a leading supplier for the Irish infant formula sector, which covers about 16% of the global demand. To continue being a leader in dairy efficiency and quality, Dairygold now routinely uses the certified air filter series ProSafe from Camfil.
A major risk in dairy product processing is biological contamination through fresh air intake. Reliable air filters are intended to prevent quality losses or even production shutdowns. At the same time, they must not become sources of contamination themselves by promoting microbial growth or releasing harmful components. In search of a suitable partner to improve air quality, Dairygold quickly found the air filter expert Camfil for its five Irish production sites.
Complete provider with certification
Since quality is always the top priority at Dairygold, Camfil was able to convince as a complete provider with the certified ProSafe product line. The specific requirements of each site—including the strict safety requirements for complete filter traceability and
- monitoring—were optimally met with Camfil's filters. The ProSafe series is additionally characterized by two key aspects: First, all components have been tested and selected for suitability for direct and indirect contact with food in accordance with EU Regulation 1935/2004. Furthermore, hygiene in air conditioning systems is supported according to VDI 6022 by using only microbiologically resistant materials, which, according to DIN EN ISO 846 tests, are not metabolizable. With such advanced coarse, fine, and particulate filters, all filter stages—from supply air filtration to process air filtration in cleanrooms—can be reliably supplied with clean air throughout all production processes.
Solution with effective sustainability
“In the European food industry, process safety also takes precedence in the selection of air filters. The ProSafe product line uniquely combines all significant quality features under one brand and offers enormous energy-saving potential. Users can thus improve both quality and productivity, as well as their own sustainability,” says Benjamin Rühl, Clean-Process Product Manager at Camfil.
