Conversation with Ruven Brandes on the topic of Blended Learning
Question: Mr. Brandes, you have been working as a consultant at PTS Training Service for some time now and have already conducted several webinars and other events with us. Could you briefly tell us about your background?
Answer: I have been working in the pharmaceutical industry for over 15 years and have held various senior positions there. Currently, I am the Head of Technical Compliance at a veterinary-pharmaceutical manufacturer. I am a recognized expert and combine technical expertise with a strong sense of quality consciousness.
Question: At PTS, you are primarily known as an expert on Annex 1.
Answer: That's correct; among many other technical topics, aseptic manufacturing of pharmaceuticals is one of my specialties.
Question: You have consciously chosen to offer blended learning at PTS Training Service – a mix of on-site events and webinars. In your opinion, what are the main advantages?
Answer: Blended learning means "mixed learning." And that's exactly what it's about for me: mixing or combining different learning formats. In blended learning, both learning methods and media can be combined. An example of a very simple blended learning concept is preparation for the theoretical driving license exam: driving instructors deliver the necessary knowledge in face-to-face sessions, which students then deepen through an online learning program.
Together with PTS, I can implement this specific learning concept. For my series "Innovations on Annex 1," it is perfect for conveying the various aspects. Online seminars can quickly and concisely cover important topics, which are then deepened through on-site sessions.
As a comprehensive concept, blended learning is therefore a forward-looking educational system for the pharmaceutical industry.
