With servo-electrically driven, ultra-precisely controlled linear actuators, Servomold, a specialist in the electrification of injection molding tools, is expanding its portfolio of components for performing linear movements in cleanroom manufacturing. An overview of the possibilities offered, for example in the demolding of plastic parts for medical technology, will be presented by the company at Molding Expo 2025 and Kuteno 2025. The focus is on the linear actuators of the recently introduced "SLA-Compact" series as well as the ultra-precise "SLY" core pull systems.

The servo-linear actuators of the new "SLA-Compact" series, which according to the provider significantly reduce the size compared to the previous series while maintaining the same forces, have been developed by Servomold for the long-term reliable, 100 percent precise, and powerful execution of linear movements in injection molding tools. Powerful, clean, and oil-free, they are intended to be optimal cleanroom-compatible alternatives to traditional hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders for translational slide, core, or plate movements. Available in performance classes from 4 kN to 50 kN, with different motor and spindle configurations and entirely in stainless steel versions, they are available on short notice.

The core pull systems of the "SLY" type, which were first introduced at Fakuma 2024, are designed to guide, center, and position slides and cores with micron accuracy in injection molding tools (see also plasticker-News from 18.09.2024). Servo-electrically driven and equipped with minimal lubrication, they would meet essential requirements of manufacturers of sleeve-shaped components such as housings and cartridge holders for auto-injection systems. The main part of the slide guide is integrated into the "SLY" concept and placed outside the mold frame. This is intended to reduce the overall tool dimensions by up to 45 percent compared to conventional designs. Contributing to this is also the space-saving arrangement of motor and spindle between the guides. The compactness is supposed to enable cost-saving use of smaller injection molding machines with the same cavity count, and to reduce the need for expensive tool steel while lowering manufacturing costs. Precision drilling with special fine centering would ensure micron-accurate positioning of the slide bodies, eliminating elaborate adjustment work during installation. The assembly time is expected to be reduced to a few hours, and the precision guaranteed by Servomold should be maintained even after maintenance or disassembly without readjustment.

New control generation for servo drives

Furthermore, Servomold will showcase at Molding Expo 2025 and Kuteno 2025 the SMC (Servo MoldControl), a new control generation for servo drives, whose touch panel has recently been awarded the IF Design Award and the Red Dot Award. Highlights include intuitive operability and automatic switching between different position sensor systems.

The focus of both trade fair appearances is also on the portfolio of cost-efficient, standardized servo system components. This includes, in addition to servo-electrical single to four-fold screw-in units and screw extruders for unscrewing threads, ready-to-use complete unscrewing ejectors, powerful servo drive units, space-saving, integrable index plate turners, thread core sets, and rotating thread core cooling systems for unscrewing units.
