Schmalz reorganizes management

Wolfgang Schmalz will step down from the management of J. Schmalz GmbH at the end of the year and will join the company's advisory board in the future. The management team will now consist of Dr. Kurt Schmalz, Andreas Beutel, and Dr. Hinrich Dohrmann.

Since 1990, Wolfgang Schmalz has been guiding the vacuum specialist based in Glatten together with his brother Dr. Kurt Schmalz. With the announced change, the family business is taking another step in the long-term realignment of its management.

"My brother has shaped the company for decades with great enthusiasm and dedication," says Dr. Kurt Schmalz, managing partner. During his 28 years of activity, Wolfgang Schmalz significantly contributed to the company's success through growth and internationalization – thus shaping the transformation into a modern industrial company. Topics such as production, logistics, IT, and organizational development have been in his area of responsibility for years. Wolfgang Schmalz placed particular emphasis on sustainable corporate management. He has been recognized multiple times for his commitment, including as Eco-Manager of the Year.

Wolfgang Schmalz will continue to be closely involved with the company as a shareholder and future advisory board member. Additionally, he will take on an advisory role, for example, in questions related to plant development planning. Furthermore, he wishes to dedicate more time to his family and his social engagements.

Dr. Kurt Schmalz, together with Andreas Beutel and Dr. Hinrich Dohrmann, will form the future management team. Andreas Beutel joined the management team in 2016 and will take over Wolfgang Schmalz's responsibilities starting January 1, 2018. At the same time, Dr. Hinrich Dohrmann will join the management team. He will now lead the national and international sales, including the Schmalz companies abroad.
