Leica Microsystems and Leica Biosystems strengthen their market position in Brazil

Wetzlar, Germany / São Paulo, Brazil. Leica Microsystems and Leica Biosystems have strengthened their connection to their Brazilian Leica distribution partner: The companies have acquired all shares of Aotec Instrumentos Cientificos Ltda in São Paulo, Brazil. As providers of solutions for microscopy and histopathology, Aotec has been a Leica distribution partner for over 25 years. All employees of Aotec remain employed by Aotec. Additionally, the Brazilian teams will be expanded through active recruitment measures. With this, Leica Microsystems and Leica Biosystems are reinforcing their market position in Brazil.

Leica Microsystems was founded in the 19th century as a family business. Developing high-precision optics and scientific instruments "with the user, for the user" has a long tradition and is a key success factor of the globally operating company today. "In close collaboration with our customers, we ensure a tailored offering. By being closer to our Brazilian customers, we will be able to better meet their needs in the future," explains Janin. "The same applies to Leica Biosystems. We offer our customers instruments, consumables, and reagents for the entire workflow. This allows them to source their entire histopathology needs from a single provider," adds Kress.

"We want to continue our excellent customer service and further expand our business in Brazil," states Luis Roberto Mesquita, who, together with his brother Carlos Mesquita and his nephew Marcio Mesquita, was the owner of Aotec.

The current management teams will work on integrating Aotec and will continue to operate from the company's existing headquarters in São Paulo.
