Business Intelligence Tool for the digital support of processes

Business Intelligence tools help Rodriguez to better monitor processes and thereby optimize them.

Together with the consulting firm CIM Aachen, Rodriguez examined the processes in manufacturing and defined approaches for optimization. Part of this strategy is the introduction of the Business Intelligence tool Qlik Sense. In addition to improved master data quality and process transparency, the implementation of the tool primarily assists in prioritizing and efficiently executing tasks in daily operations.

"With this tool, we get a transparent view of the current situation in production at the push of a button, based on data sources and agreed-upon key figures," emphasizes Christoph Aretz, Commercial Management & Controlling at Rodriguez. "This production controlling enables us to react quickly to problems and make the right decisions."

In several workshops, the partners initially designed the dashboards conceptually, including all visualizations, with a focus on the users during the design process. With support from the IT department and the ERP team, the necessary data, data sources, and requirements for data provision were then coordinated. Rodriguez initially focused on key metrics such as on-time delivery, deviation in throughput time, employee productivity, machine availability, and performance level. The data is directly retrieved from the ERP system and a time recording system, linked within the BI tool, and visualized. A daily update run overnight ensures fresh key figures before the start of each workday. "We have been using the Business Intelligence tool since February 2022 and are very satisfied with it," concludes Christoph Aretz. "It reliably provides an up-to-date view of the production situation at any time."
