25 Years of ISPE D/A/CH Affiliate

In 1980, technically oriented employees of the pharmaceutical industry in the USA founded ISPE. It is a globally active organization focused on GMP-oriented training and efficiency enhancement in pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
In 1993, 13 years after the founding of ISPE in the USA, engineers from the pharmaceutical industry in D/A/CH established a regional ISPE with close ties to ISPE International.

In the following years, the regional membership grew to more than 1,250, with an upward trend. The success is due to the good work of the regional ISPE organization. Today, it consists of 18 advisory board members elected annually by the general assembly. The board is also composed of this circle. Parallel to this, there are committees and working groups on selected technical topics. Many ISPE members work there.

Three essential ISPE elements provide members with benefits and justify ISPE's success:

Share knowledge

The high requirements for the manufacturing pharmaceutical industry apply across the entire value chain, for the benefit and protection of patients. Knowing these requirements and implementing them in compliance with regulations in practice demands a lot from employees. Knowledge provides security in production (employees), in technical equipment (suppliers), and during audits (authorities).

An ISPE membership grants access to working groups and their results, workshops with site visits, ISPE Baseline Guides, eLearning, webinars, trade magazines, and other offerings. Knowledge is shared there.

In regional working groups and workshops, not only knowledge is shared, developed, and communicated, but also best practice solutions are created collaboratively. Since experts work on these topics, officially recognized and sometimes free for members, practical guidelines (Good Practice Guides) are produced.

Use network

Through work meetings, congresses, and lecture series, a network of technical experts is addressed and accessible. Personal questions can be discussed online or at these face-to-face meetings.

Pharmaceutical companies open their production facilities widely for ISPE events and site visits.
In the D/A/CH region, ISPE is well represented with many regional offerings (working groups, workshops, and site visits). The high demand clearly shows us that we often have to limit participant numbers.

Promote career

Questions from personal work environments find quick, practical, and regulation-compliant answers in the ISPE knowledge pool (online databases, technical literature, working groups, workshops, lectures, visits) and within the member network. This supports daily work and helps with internal company questions. This is what characterizes ISPE membership as a supporter of one's own career.

About ISPE

With nearly 19,000 members worldwide and over 1,250 members in the regional ISPE Germany/Austria/Switzerland, it is one of the largest non-profit organizations in the pharmaceutical sector. Members come from pharmaceutical manufacturing, machinery and plant engineering for the pharmaceutical industry, pharmaceutical company engineering, independent engineering firms, consulting, universities, and regulatory authorities.
