Weidmüller wins Industry 4.0 Innovation Award

The electrical engineering company Weidmüller has been awarded the Industry 4.0 Innovation Award for its Automated Machine Learning Tool. Weidmüller Technology Board Member Volker Bibelhausen and Tobias Gaukstern, Head of the Business Unit Industrial Analytics at Weidmüller, accepted the prize on November 26 at the booth of the Detmold-based company at the smart production solutions in Nuremberg. "We are pleased that our innovative software solution convinced the jury and the community, and that we won this coveted award with a large margin," Bibelhausen said. "I would like to thank the entire Analytics team and of course everyone who voted for our software." The Industry 4.0 Innovation Award was announced and awarded for the fourth time in 2019 by VDE VERLAG GmbH in collaboration with the "ZVEI" and the "Standardization Council Industry 4.0".

Products and innovations that make a profitable or supportive contribution related to Industry 4.0 are eligible to participate for the award. "We are extremely pleased that Weidmüller has won the Industry 4.0 Innovation Award in 2019 with the Automated Machine Learning Tool," explains Ronald Heinze, Editor-in-Chief of Open Automation and Publisher of the magazines. "Our publishing house wishes Weidmüller continued success with the awarded solution to enable as many engineers and technicians as possible to utilize AI- and ML-based models."

Weidmüller offers an Automated Machine Learning Tool software that allows domain experts to independently create ML models — without specialized knowledge in the field of Machine Learning (ML). "Our vision with the Automated Machine Learning Tool is to democratize the application of AI and ML in industry. The vote confirms the need for easy-to-use ML solutions and gives us additional momentum for further development," Gaukstern added.
