Vetter relies on continuity and initiative in sustainability
Pharma service provider publishes Sustainability Report 2024
– Investments in sustainable energy infrastructures
– Further reduction of CO2 emissions
– Expansion of commitment to training and integration
The pharmaceutical service provider Vetter has published its fourth sustainability report. It demonstrates: the globally active family business pursues its ambitious goals in the areas of climate protection, social responsibility, and sustainable business practices in a focused and successful manner. Vetter has set itself the goal of reducing CO2 emissions company-wide by 4.52 percent annually. Through various measures, such as an additional education center in Ravensburg and an inclusive entry program, the company is taking further steps toward greater sustainability.
“Our fourth sustainability report shows: sustainability is not a sprint. As a family business, we have been taking responsibility for many decades — not only for climate and environment,” explains Managing Director Henryk Badack. “Our employees and the social environment are particularly important to us. We are involved in numerous initiatives and projects with the same intensity as we are in environmental and energy issues. We are very proud of our successes, but we are not resting on our laurels. We continue to pursue our sustainability strategy and ambitious goals consistently.”
Goal: Net Zero 2040
Vetter has committed to achieving net-zero status for direct and indirect emissions in Germany by 2040 and worldwide by 2050. Specifically, this means that the pharmaceutical service provider must reduce its CO2 emissions by at least 4.52 percent annually. To this end, the company invested in infrastructure and further process optimizations last year as well.
In addition to a powerful photovoltaic system at the Langenargen production site and the electrification of existing systems, Vetter has taken an important step toward hydrogen technology by converting two high-pressure steam generators. The latest photovoltaic system, with a capacity of 128 kWp, produces as much energy annually as 29 single-family homes consume on average. Furthermore, since 2024, the company has been using exclusively CO₂-neutral nitrogen to further improve its climate balance. Together with all other measures, Vetter now covers 54 percent of its total consumption with renewable energy sources.
Diversity and Nachwuchsförderung (Young Talent Promotion)
Sustainability for companies encompasses much more than climate and environmental protection. Responsibility for society and the well-being of employees are equally important. Vetter places great value on high-quality training in a meaningful industry. With the opening of a second education center in Ravensburg for scientific professions, the family business demonstrates how seriously it takes its responsibility toward young people and their professional future.
Engaged and well-trained talents are crucial for the growth and further development of the pharmaceutical service provider, whose competencies and quality consciousness are valued by pharmaceutical manufacturers worldwide. To facilitate entry for people with linguistic and cultural challenges, the family business has introduced an inclusive entry program. Since October 2024, the first participants have been comprehensively trained in language, culture, and technical knowledge to prepare them for their future roles at Vetter.
The Leading Employers Institute confirms: Vetter belongs to the top 1% of training companies — and according to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, is Germany’s training champion among pharmaceutical companies.
