More exhibitor bookings than at the same time last year

The LOUNGES 2020 are developing extremely successfully. The current registration numbers of exhibitors show a clear upward trend at such an early stage, before the event.

New companies are enriching the event with interesting topics, and old companies/exhibitors from previous years who have not participated in recent years are returning.

The very attractive opportunity to connect with interesting people throughout the year via the x4com platform is one of the success factors for the significant growth.

In this sense, the lounges will undergo further innovations.

Product presentations take center stage

The lounges will also highlight the area of product presentations even more prominently. Each exhibitor will have the opportunity to list 10 products free of charge in the booking system, which will then be published on the News Update page.

New topics will complement the spectrum in the future

Artificial Intelligence

The rapid technological development in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and the resulting global changes in production and value chains will sustainably influence our future. Cross-networked and transformative research and innovation are the cornerstones for developing AI into a key technology of the future. Furthermore, AI applications provide an additional acceleration factor to expand the possibilities and benefits of Industry 4.0. Data play an important role not only for AI applications and Industry 4.0 but also form the basis for innovative business models and thus for the future competitiveness of companies.

Today, when dealing with artificial intelligence, different terms and applications, such as learning systems, are interconnected. Besides natural intelligence in every human, artificial intelligence and learning systems will help humans better understand complex contexts and find practical solutions. The application possibilities of learning systems are already very extensive today, although we are only at the beginning of this development process.

The goal of "Lounges 2020 Artificial Intelligence" is to provide a platform for research institutions, SMEs, and startups to present practical and relevant results of artificial intelligence and learning systems.

An additional goal is to offer participants the opportunity to network both during the event and afterward via a communication platform to participate in the rapid development of AI.

Intelligent Production & Manufacturing Equipment Optimization

Fraunhofer IPA aims to present an absolute novelty in the context of the lounges 2020 regarding flexible and rapid optimization of production and manufacturing equipment. This innovation is intended to be applicable to all types of production equipment and enable novel problem-solving approaches. Contamination control is currently learning everything necessary to be presented to the trade fair audience in January 2020.

  • Optimization of production and manufacturing equipment regarding their particle behavior and emissions of gaseous contaminants
  • Flexible and rapid solution
  • Applicable to almost all types of production facilities
  • Conversion of "standard hardware" into cleanroom-compatible manufacturing equipment
  • Monitoring of contamination behavior in the surrounding, cleanliness-controlled manufacturing environment

Cleanroom Reliability Equipment Monitoring System (CREMS)

"CREMS" is a wear early warning system developed by Fraunhofer IPA for cleanrooms. Highly sensitive sensors inside production facilities detect even minimal contaminants at the source. Contaminants can, for example, be detected early in robot joints; ideally before they penetrate ultra-clean areas and cause damage. Additionally, information about particle size ratios and concentrations, including their temporal occurrence, can be automatically transmitted to higher-level IT-based analysis systems for evaluation. Through learning systems and the application of specially developed evaluation algorithms, early detection of impending wear (predictive maintenance) is even possible.

  • Wear early warning system for cleanrooms
  • Highly sensitive sensors detect even minimal contaminants
  • Recording of particle size ratios and concentrations
  • Higher-level IT-based analysis systems + learning systems
  • Early detection of impending wear (Predictive Maintenance)

Purity of Medical Devices: The New VDI 2083 Sheet 21 Guideline

An important quality feature for medical devices increasingly becomes their purity to minimize risks to patients. The new guideline VDI 2083 Sheet 21 provides overarching guidance on the topic of purity of medical devices in the manufacturing process and thus forms a basis in the absence of product-specific regulations. The guideline describes the procedure for establishing acceptance criteria for critical contaminants as well as the development and validation of suitable methods for assessing purity.

  • Legal and normative starting situation
  • Purity requirements
  • Principled approach to deriving acceptance criteria
  • Method development and validation
  • Application examples of the guideline
