KIST + ESCHERICH presents innovative cleaning technology for battery cells – Cleanliness as the key to the future of electromobility

The demand for high-performance energy storage systems for electromobility and stationary applications is growing rapidly. At the same time, the requirements for manufacturing processes are increasing, as the reliability and lifespan of modern lithium-ion batteries depend critically on adherence to…

With the new Smart Drying technology, AI enables intelligent control of drying processes using warm air and vacuum with the aim of minimizing energy consumption and cycle times. The next step is to use AI to control and optimize cleaning and rinsing processes. (Image source: Shutterstock / Frank60) When it comes to consistently high process quality and savings in energy, resources, and operating costs, the innovative LOC system opens up completely new perspectives through automated analysis of cleaning and rinsing baths based on various measurement methods. (Image source: Ecoclean GmbH) For determining the actual cleaner concentration, the methods available are titration, pH value, conductivity, and surface tension measurement, while bath contamination can be detected using fluorescence and conductivity measurement. The measurement methods can be combined as needed, and additional functions or new measurement methods can be easily integrated. (Image source: Ecoclean GmbH)

Intelligent process control with Lab-on-a-Chip and AI-based Smart Drying

Automatic control of cleaning and drying quality, resource consumption, and costs

Consistently high process quality and savings in energy, resources, and operating costs—these are the demands that water-based cleaning processes must meet today. To meet these requirements reliably and efficiently, Ecoclean has developed the innovative Lab-on-a-Chip system. It maintains the quali…

To effectively reduce resource consumption in the cleaning of medical and pharmaceutical products, the material compatibility and cytotoxicity of the quattroClean snow jet cleaning technology were successfully investigated in a joint project. (Photo credit: Bentley InnoMed) To cover as broad a range of applications as possible, tests were conducted using test specimens made from materials commonly used in the medical and pharmaceutical industries: stainless steel 1.4301, stainless steel 1.4305, polyetheretherketone (PEEK), polyether (PE), polyoxymethylene (POM), Nitinol, cobalt-chromium, and glass vials. (Image source: Fraunhofer IPA) In-vitro cytotoxicity tests in accordance with DIN EN ISO 10993:2009-10 confirmed that the CO2 snow does not impair cell vitality in any way. (Photo credit: Fraunhofer IPA) The photoelectron spectroscopic analyses conducted at NMI – here the HRXPS spectrum of stainless steel 1.4301 – confirm that the CO2 snow jet does not cause any material changes. Joint project proves suitability of quattroClean snow jet technology

Resource-saving, reliable cleaning process for life science industries

The surface cleanliness required for medical and pharmaceutical products is generally achieved during manufacture using liquid-based cleaning processes that consume enormous amounts of energy and water. In order to effectively reduce resource consumption, a joint project funded by Invest BW and invo…

Component cleaning as a service was also a topic at the trade fair. The contract cleaning range extends from coarse to intermediate and precision cleaning. Ultra-fine and high-purity cleaning tasks are carried out in the High Purity Test Center with validated cleanroom. (Image source: Ecoclean) The use of APM technology will be demonstrated live on the UCMCombiLine modular ultrasonic cleaning system for manual workstations. (Image source: Ecoclean)
