The lectures of the 2nd Specialist Conference on the topic of "Film Contamination" come this year from well-known companies such as MAHLE, TE Connectivity, WITZENMANN, OLYMPUS, CARL ZEISS, PERO, and many more. The Fraunhofer IPA, Fraunhofer IPM, Fraunhofer IVV, and the University of Bayreuth also present insights into research projects with industry partners.

The South German Publishing Events GmbH has announced the complete agenda of the 2nd Specialist Conference on Film Contamination, which will take place on November 14 and 15, 2017, at the Nestor Hotel in Ludwigsburg. With a total of 17 lectures covering the impacts of film contamination on production as well as plant tours at Dürr EcoClean and Quality Analysis, participants can expect a comprehensive and informative program on both days.

Among the speakers are experts from various organizations, including Dr. Markus Rochowicz from Fraunhofer IPA, who will report on the current status of the industry consortium AdhÄSa. Andrea Krause from Witzenmann GmbH will discuss the topic: Soluble residues in the processing and on the final product. Dominik Falk from HMT – Häseler Metalltechnik will inform about imaging fluorescence analysis for detecting film contamination, and Volker Seipel from TE Connectivity will present on contact surfaces in the joining area for ultrasonic welding of wire harnesses.

Film contamination is ubiquitous in the manufacturing process

"I am looking forward to the conference with anticipation. The topic of film contamination is as versatile as the materials involved – the entire periodic table is on board – and accordingly, the effects multiply depending on the material and application conditions. Film contamination is omnipresent in the manufacturing process. For me personally, events like the conference in Ludwigsburg provide a platform for exchange of experience and discussion, and offer the opportunity to acquire topic-specific knowledge that is not otherwise available in this condensed form," says Andrea Krause from Witzenmann GmbH.

Laser scanner for imaging inline inspection

Other speakers include Markus Fabich from Olympus Europe SE & Co. KG, who will discuss how film contamination can be identified using modern fluorescence microscopy. Dr. Albrecht Brandenburg from Fraunhofer IPM reports on laser scanners for imaging inline inspection of film contamination. Dr. Axel Müller from OHB Systems will present a lecture on purity requirements in space travel, and Dr. Andreas Schäfer from nanoAnalytics will discuss the application possibilities of laboratory analytics in the field of film contamination.

Comparison of cleaning processes

Michael Onken from SAFECHEM Europe GmbH speaks in the session on cleaning techniques about removing film contamination using solvents. Dr. Martin Hanek from CSC JÄKLECHEMIE presents wet cleaning processes, and Dieter Ortner from PERO AG compares various cleaning processes in his lecture. Other presentations come from VACOM GmbH and Unicorn Technologies. The program is moderated by Oliver Bosch, Technical Cleanliness at Mahle GmbH.

Exchange of experience

"What is particularly interesting to me at the conference is learning about the challenges faced by other participants regarding film and other contaminants, and how they address these challenges with processes and necessary analytics," says Dr. Roland Steiner, Director of Cleaning Technology, Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology Business Group, Carl Zeiss SMT GmbH.

Platform for networking

Beyond the lecture program and plant tours, the 2nd Specialist Conference on Film Contamination offers space for discussion and exchange of experience among users, decision-makers, scientists, and analysts. This makes the event a unique platform for sharing insights on handling technical cleanliness and film contamination, as well as challenges and perspectives.

Discussing on equal terms

"I am looking forward to this event because it is unique in this industry. The conference brings together OEMs and the entire supply chain. The great thing is that everyone discusses on equal footing, and we share a high level of expertise, learn about new trends, and exchange practical examples and implementations," comments Dominik Falk, Head of Surface Technology at HTM, about the event.
Trade Exhibition

An accompanying trade exhibition with representatives from CCI – von Kahlden, Cleaning Excellence Center (CEC), CLEAR & CLEAN, CleanControlling, HYDAC, OLYMPUS, RJL Micro & Analytic, and TREAMS completes the event.
