GMP & Technology Congress – a perennial favorite

If for the third consecutive time, the number of participants significantly exceeds one hundred, this not only indicates exciting topics but also the quality of the event. Despite critical boundary conditions – concurrent trade fairs, congresses, autumn holidays – the organizing partner companies managed to attract nearly 120 participants to Freiburg to discuss the topic of "Integrated Quality Assurance" from different perspectives. A topic that is becoming increasingly important in a professional world shaped by regulations and guidelines, if one does not want to lose sight of economic efficiency.

Thus, gempex dedicated its specialized session to the not entirely new, but still unresolved issue of integrated plant qualification. Mr. Ralf Gengenbach, Managing Director of gempex GmbH and active in this field for over 20 years, provided a brief insight into the problems that particularly arise during the planning and construction of new pharmaceutical facilities. Ms. Katharina Fromme from Drees & Sommer showed initial solutions that can be pursued with the help of a competent project controller. Mr. Gerald Mathe from Boehringer Ingelheim Pharma GmbH & Co. KG highlighted in his presentation how important, alongside project management, is good and careful project definition and management to reconcile fundamental engineering requirements with GMP standards. Mr. Frank Weber from Evonik Industries emphasized in his contribution that, in addition to project management and project control, a qualified supplier and manufacturer is undoubtedly the third key component for quality and economic efficiency.
