Electronics manufacturing: ESD-safe and low-residue handling
Sensible electronics move perfectly – with the new suction cup material HT1-ESD from Schmalz. The material addresses several critical issues in electronics manufacturing simultaneously: it leaves hardly any marks on components, reliably protects against electrostatic discharges (ESD), and withstands temperatures up to 170 degrees Celsius.
A tiny fingerprint on a semiconductor wafer, an almost imperceptible electrostatic discharge, a conductive particle that can be released. The result: costly rework or contamination. Until now, manufacturers had to make compromises. Schmalz now combines all requirements in the new suction cup material HT1-ESD.
The high-performance material combines the properties of two proven materials, HT1 and NBR-ESD. The HT1 component ensures minimal imprint handling, as it leaves only minimal chemical residues on components. At the same time, it withstands heat up to 170 degrees Celsius without losing its mechanical or chemical properties. Its high ozone resistance and wear resistance significantly extend the lifespan of the suction cups. Cracks or material degradation do not occur, ensuring operational safety.
Without critical additives
Schmalz improves usability for users through the material composition: The suction cup material HT1-ESD is free from external coatings and conductive particles thanks to NBR-ESD. These conductive additives can detach during wear, impair ESD protection, contaminate the process, and lead to yield losses. Electronics manufacturers benefit from the new HT1-ESD material with clean surfaces, which significantly reduces scrap. Maintenance and downtime are reduced, and machine availability increases.
The suction cups made from HT1-ESD are suitable for various applications in electronics manufacturing, thanks to minimized marks and maximized ESD protection: from household appliances and consumer electronics to semiconductor production and final assembly. To meet all workshop requirements, Schmalz offers the suction cups in different designs.
