– New injection molding machine series combine economical production with high power density and quick availability
– Designed for standard applications for technical parts, electrical and electronic devices, automotive, packaging, and medical technology
– Live at K 2022: Sustainable applications for the toy and automotive industries

The plastics world is changing. In view of dynamic and rapidly growing markets, emerging small and medium-sized companies as well as established corporations must increasingly act more flexibly and cost-efficiently. KraussMaffei has responded to this development and now offers its customers in Europe and North America two additional injection molding machine series: the precisionMolding and powerMolding. Live at the KraussMaffei booth at K 2022 in Düsseldorf from October 19 – 26 (Hall 15, Stand C15/C24-D24), they demonstrate sustainable solutions for the toy and automotive industries.

The precisionMolding is the base machine with a reduced scope of options of the fully electric PX series, while the powerMolding is the counterpart to KraussMaffei's proven hydraulic GX series. "With the base machine concept, we offer our customers especially quick response times and thus short delivery times, enabling them to operate more efficiently and competitively. This opens up entirely new market potentials and applications for our customers. At the same time, it naturally also opens up new applications and customer groups for us that we have not been able to serve so far," explains Xiaojun Cui, Executive Vice President of New Machines Business at KraussMaffei.

Designed for standard injection molding applications

Both the precisionMolding and the powerMolding are ideal for standard applications, for example for technical parts, electrical and electronic devices, automotive, packaging, or medical industries. The precisionMolding was introduced in Asia in 2019, and the powerMolding in 2021. Since then, both series have established themselves very successfully there. Customers in these markets especially appreciate the high precision and power density, as well as the quick availability and ease of operation. And all this at an excellent price-performance ratio. With K 2022, the precisionMolding and powerMolding are now also entering the markets in Europe and North America.

Fast ROI and optimal energy efficiency

Both the precisionMolding and the powerMolding stand for high efficiency and cost-effectiveness according to KraussMaffei's usual quality standards. For example, a selected range of options, such as a wide variety of tool insertion heights or easy integration of automation solutions, allows for quick design of customized system solutions.

The powerMolding allows up to 15 percent higher throughput than comparable standard injection molding machines on the market, depending on the application. This is achieved through short dry cycle times, high shot weight consistency, and the resulting low scrap rates. "Overall, the investment pays off very quickly for our customers, especially when compared to other standard machines on the market," explains Xiaojun Cui.

With rising energy prices, energy-efficient manufacturing is becoming increasingly important. Thanks to its fully electric machine concept, the precisionMolding inherently has good energy efficiency. The powerMolding features the proven KraussMaffei BluePower servo drive as standard. It controls the pumps according to the optimal demand/energy requirement. This ensures that only as much energy as needed is consumed at any given time. Overall, the powerMolding offers up to 40 percent better energy efficiency than comparable standard injection molding machines on the market, depending on the application.

Sustainable children's fun - precisionMolding live at K

Sustainability and efficiency for the toy industry are the focus of the application of the precisionMolding 160-750 with a clamping force of 1600 kN at K 2022. A soft tennis racket made from 100 percent renewable raw materials is produced. The bio-PE based on sugarcane from FKUR not only binds CO2 during production but is also particularly robust and durable and can be recycled 100 percent after use. This material thus makes a valuable contribution to conserving fossil resources.

An important task in processing the bioplastic on the precisionMolding at K is handled by APC plus from KraussMaffei. Similar to fossil plastics, the machine function compensates for typical process fluctuations even with bioplastics, ensuring consistently high part quality. The economical system solution is complemented by an LRX EasyControl. The linear robot is ideal for pick-and-place applications, easy and intuitive to operate, and, in combination with the precisionMolding, allows a quick entry into fully electric injection molding and handling.

Processing 100 percent recycled material as part of the circular economy – powerMolding live at K

The powerMolding 1300-11900 with a clamping force of 13,000 kN is part of the complete circular economy at the KraussMaffei exhibition stand. It produces door modules for the automotive industry from 100 percent recycled PP. The recycled material comes from caps for insulin pens produced on a PX 200-1400. The material is shredded and then processed with additives such as adhesion promoters and liquid color in the upcycling process on a ZE 28 BluePower twin-screw extruder.

Also, in this application on the powerMolding, the machine function APCplus plays an important role. It compensates for typical batch fluctuations when processing recycled material, ensuring consistently high part quality. An integrated linear robot from the LRX series handles the safe handling of the parts.

Wide range of applications

Whether applications for technical parts for the toy industry or the automotive industry as at K 2022, whether bioplastics, recycled material, or new raw materials – the spectrum of the precisionMolding and powerMolding is broad and opens up entirely new possibilities for the standard injection molding market.
