Clean matter: New stainless steel screws and nuts in hygienic design

Hygienic cleanliness is not only an essential prerequisite in the production of the food and pharmaceutical industries. Other industrial sectors, such as the manufacture of dispersion as a building material, also benefit from high hygiene standards. Often, this allows for the omission of preservatives without compromising the product's shelf life.

Production machinery and their surroundings require thorough cleaning. Using conventional components involves time- and cost-intensive disassembly, long machine downtimes, and significant consumption of water, cleaning agents, and energy. Not so with the use of components in hygienic design: These are made from high-quality materials with particularly smooth surfaces and are therefore much easier to clean, especially when assembled.

Following this, Ganter now introduces nuts and bolts made of stainless steel as part of its Hygienic Design product family under the GN 1580 standard, which meet the high requirements of EHEDG and the 3A Sanitary Standard optimally. Their design features a special geometry and a surface roughness < 0.8 µm, causing liquids to bead off quickly and speeding up the drying process after cleaning. As standard, FDA-compliant elastomer sealing rings are installed on the contact surface, which are nearly impossible to lose and are neatly centered within the assembled space. When mounted, they experience the necessary pressure without being overstressed.

The sealing rings are available under the designation GN 7600 in various sizes, individually and upon request also in other materials. On one hand, they serve as spare parts for the nuts and bolts, and on the other hand, they enable a dead-space-free and hygienic fastening of additional components.
