– Intega covers the entire spectrum from development to project execution
– Sustained growth in target industries such as semiconductors, life sciences, and pharmaceuticals
Exyte intends to acquire the GmbH Intega, a specialist in ultra-pure media technologies. Corresponding agreements have been signed by Exyte and the private investment company Nimbus, the current owner of Intega. Intega develops, plans, and implements ultra-pure media systems. The company's systems supply gas, water, and other chemicals to semiconductor manufacturing facilities and other high-tech production plants. Intega is based in Munich and employs around 300 staff members. The company generates a revenue level of approximately 60 million euros. The transaction is subject to the necessary antitrust approvals. The purchase price has been kept confidential.
Founded in 1946, Intega is now active at seven locations in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Its customers include international market and technology leaders in the semiconductor, automotive, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries. With the acquisition of Intega, Exyte is advancing its strategy of vertical integration. This involves strengthening the business in critical technologies and services. The business area Technology & Services (T&S), founded in 2021, consists of companies offering installation services and essential components for the semiconductor, battery, and biopharma industries. Intega perfectly complements Exyte’s existing portfolio.
Further growth of the technology and service business
“With the acquisition of Intega, we are strengthening our vertical integration. The offerings and regional presence of Intega complement our Technology & Services business area excellently. This is the next strategic step to expand our expertise in critical subsystems for high-tech plants, especially in the semiconductor industry. Furthermore, Intega will form the core of our European service activities. Through the collaboration of Exyte and Intega, new growth drivers will emerge, ultimately benefiting our customers,” says Exyte CEO Dr. Wolfgang Büchele.
“With Exyte, Intega gains a strategic owner who will accompany and promote our long-term development. Both companies, active at different levels of the value chain, have been working successfully together for decades. Exyte is the perfect partner for our expansion in the DACH region and worldwide, for our planned business development, and for further strengthening and implementing our strategy. Both existing and new customers, as well as our employees, will benefit from the combined strengths of Exyte and Intega,” says Paul Metten, Managing Director of Intega.
“Since our acquisition of Intega in 2018, we have successfully developed the company strategically together and managed to realize a strong growth trajectory on an independent basis, both in terms of revenue and profitability. During this time, Intega, together with Nimbus, significantly expanded its market position through innovations and excellent customer orientation. We are convinced that Exyte is the perfect partner to realize the next growth phase,” emphasizes Henning Andresen, Managing Partner at Nimbus.
Acquisitions as part of the “Next Level” future agenda
Exyte is currently successfully pursuing its “Pathway to Ten,” aiming to reach a revenue of ten billion euros by 2027. To this end, the company has defined the future agenda “Next Level.” Revenue in all business segments is expected to continue to grow, also through strategic acquisitions.
The agreement to acquire Intega is the third acquisition to strengthen the Technology & Services business area, following the acquisition of the US companies Critical Process Systems Group (CPS) in 2021 and Airgard, Inc. last year. With these acquisitions, Exyte expanded its T&S portfolio to include systems for chemical and gas supply as well as exhaust gas management. These are used, among other industries, in the semiconductor and life sciences sectors.
In 2022, the Technology & Services division nearly doubled its revenue to 775 million euros (2021: 427 million euros), accounting for around 10 percent of the group’s total revenue. The strong growth trend is also reflected in the division’s order intake of 1.1 billion euros in 2022. In the medium term, the Technology & Services business area aims to continue its strong growth trajectory organically and through further acquisitions.
