Verified Environmental Product Declarations – now also for partition, cleanroom and ReUse raised floor systems
With the introduction and expansion of several Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), the Lindner Group is taking another important step towards sustainable construction and transparent product information. For the first time, partition and cleanroom systems have now also been assessed and verified by the German Institute for Construction and Environment (IBU e.V.).
New EPDs for Lindner Products: Making Sustainable Product Design Visible
The new EPDs in the wall systems category cover the glazed partitions Lindner Life Stereo 125, Life Contour 126, and Life Freeze 137. These systems offer high-quality design and have been ecologically assessed in accordance with the requirements of the relevant standards and with the greatest possible transparency.
In addition, Lindner Life Stereo 125 and Life Contour 126 stand out for their consistent circular design approach: they can be dismantled without damage, reused or refurbished. Core components such as steel, glass, and aluminium are fully recyclable.
For the first time, EPDs have also been verified for cleanroom wall systems Multiclean LVT, CLVT, and CPH with the corresponding 437 and 448 glazing systems. These cleanroom systems not only meet the highest standards for hygiene, flexibility, and functionality, but also impress with their sustainable material selection and the potential for disassembly, reuse, or recycling.
A Second Life for Raised Floor Panels
Alongside the new declarations, the Lindner Group has also updated and extended the existing EPDs for its FLOOR and more® raised floor systems and LIGNA wood-based panels. For the first time, different end-of-life scenarios have been included – such as take-back and internal material recovery for FLOOR and more®, as well as take-back options for LIGNA. This enables building life cycle assessors to calculate the carbon footprint of a building more realistically – with potential CO₂ savings of up to 81 %.
Also new to the portfolio: the IBU has developed a dedicated PCR (Product Category Rules) for ReUse products, and the raised floor systems LOOP aurum and LOOP prime are among the first to be verified under this new framework.
Sustainability in glass fibre concrete
Another milestone is the publication of the EPD for LinCrete glass fibre reinforced concrete. As a cement-based and potentially CO₂-intensive material, LinCrete posed particular challenges in terms of ecological evaluation. Thanks to its development as a modular precast product, manufacturing offcuts can now be reused in a closed-loop system. At the same time, waste generated during on-site installation is reduced to a minimum.
With its wide range of applications – from facade cladding and wall/ceiling solutions to furniture and planter systems – LinCrete represents a product that is versatile, durable and environmentally responsible.
EPDs as a foundation for transparent, sustainable construction planning and life cycle assessment
EPDs provide comprehensive information about the environmental impacts of products throughout their entire life cycle – from raw material extraction to production, use and end-of-life. They make environmental aspects measurable and comparable and form a solid basis for sustainability certifications such as DGNB, LEED or BREEAM, as well as for the life cycle assessment of buildings.
