Health and longevity in focus at C-tec
It is quite unusual when a company in the cleanroom industry invites customers, business partners, employees, and friends to a longevity seminar. That is exactly what C-tec in Kusterdingen recently did. An instructive encounter with a renowned speaker who truly lives what he recommends.
About 30 interested individuals attended the event, which included practical instructions from Dr. Wolfgang Feil, offering a lot of interesting insights into how to live healthily and long. Under the title “The Secret of Longevity - Physically and Mentally Fit Beyond 100 Years,” the well-known nutrition scientist and Spiegel bestseller author provided his audience with exciting findings and easy-to-implement tips. Dr. Wolfgang Feil is considered one of the world's leading osteoarthritis experts and leads a research group on these topics.
In his several-hour seminar, which started with an activating soup and “cool” drinks, the first topics discussed were the best strategies for more inner calm and serenity. This was followed by practical nutrition tips for more vitality. The two key components of human longevity—autophagy and mitochondrial renewal—played a major role here. Autophagy is a cellular cleaning process, a kind of cellular waste disposal that promotes cell renewal. This process is particularly stimulated by activities such as sweating, freezing, fasting—like sauna, ice bathing, and fasting—as well as increased vitamin D intake and spermidine-rich nutrition.
According to Dr. Feil, mitochondrial renewal largely depends on an anti-inflammatory lifestyle. This, in turn, is promoted by proper nutrition, a diverse and active lifestyle, targeted stress management and breathing techniques, as well as an active community life and a sense of purpose. The expert described a low-carbohydrate, high-protein diet, with plenty of vegetables and spices, and good fats as anti-inflammatory nutrition. As beneficial physical activities, Dr. Feil classified endurance, strength, flexibility, coordination, and speed sports.
For stress reduction, he recommended, in addition to breathing exercises, the practice of positive attitudes such as mindfulness, gratitude, humility, and blessing the food before consumption. The aspect of life purpose was repeatedly emphasized by the doctor, highlighting the importance of active social engagement from the perspective of contributing. The aspect of cell renewal is also promoted by consuming foods high in arginine (such as almonds, lentils, meat, fish, and cheese), citrulline (watermelon, cucumber), omega-3s, and ginger.
Another part of the seminar focused on the healing power of sleep and how to fully harness it. This was followed by explanations about effective training for a strong heart and healthy blood vessels, which can be done without time expenditure. The so-called “nutrient tuning” for a long and healthy life was particularly important to the longevity expert.
For those eager to implement, the expert also offered a longevity week at the beginning of December on Madeira. After a relaxed conclusion with finger foods and immune drinks, the participants were dismissed into their “evening.” The feedback was overwhelming—everyone enjoyed it, and they said they learned a lot.
