Safety Workbench claire® neo awarded the Red Dot Design Award 2024
The new generation of security cabinets, the claire® neo, was awarded the Red Dot Design Award in 2024.
The Red Dot Design Award is one of the largest design competitions worldwide and has established itself internationally as one of the most coveted quality seals for good design. To properly evaluate the diversity in this field, the award is divided into three disciplines. Berner was able to impress in the "Medical devices and technology design" category.
The Red Dot Design Award
In the world of design and innovation, the Red Dot Award stands for the highest recognition. Under the motto "In Search of Good Design and Innovation," the Red Dot jury once again evaluated outstanding submissions and awarded the coveted Red Dot distinctions. A panel of about 40 international experts from various fields examined, discussed, and evaluated the design quality of each entry. Criteria such as functionality and aesthetics were carefully considered.
Good design is multifaceted — a product must convince the Red Dot jury on various levels. To do so, it must combine the four qualities of good design as explained more closely by Peter Zec in his book "The Form of Success" (2019):
– The quality of function: What purpose does the product serve?
– The quality of seduction: Does the product appeal aesthetically?
– The quality of usability: Is the product easy and intuitive to operate?
– The quality of responsibility: Is the product sustainable or durable?
These qualities vary depending on the product, but none of the four aspects may be completely absent.
The claire® neo
The claire® neo was awarded for its unique combination of safety, flexibility, ergonomics, and user-friendliness, which revolutionizes the laboratory environment. The innovative metric grid pattern of 30 cm steps allows seamless integration into modern laboratories and maximizes space utilization.
The clear, appealing design creates a pleasant working environment, and the ergonomic layout with quiet operating conditions, bright lighting, and adjustable work surface height ensures maximum comfort and efficiency at work.
The modern sensors, the intuitive high-end touch display with LED lighting technology, and the possibility to retrofit a 3-filter system enable maximum flexibility and safety when handling hazardous substances.
The flexible work surface concept also allows for easy exchange and combination of work surfaces to tailor the workflow. The claire® neo thus combines top-class design, ergonomics, and user-friendliness to make working in the laboratory more effective and enjoyable.
The claire® neo was able to impress in all four quality levels (function, aesthetics, handling, and responsibility).
