In just four months to a complete high purity system
Medical system solution for Viant Aura GmbH
Detailed preliminary tests, contract cleaning, and genuine teamwork made it possible for LPW Cleaning Systems GmbH to complete a customer-specific system for Viant Aura GmbH in just four months. The double-chamber system of the PowerJet 670 T5 Twin Ultra Medical series is used for the final cleaning of capillary tubes (e.g., in inhalation devices) and is connected to a tailored automation solution that ensures clean transfer into the cleanroom.
The project partners have a long-standing collaboration that began in 2019 with the first CNp trials at LPW's cleanroom-based test and service center in Riederich. In addition to developing the best cleaning parameters for the capillary tubes, a handling and packaging concept was also designed. This was followed by nearly three years of contract cleaning with the high purity specialists. With steadily increasing quantities and under the motto "from the lab to the fab," this meant for LPW application engineering, in coordination with the technical sales team:
- Integration into the overall validation of the customer
- Definition/specification of the quality-relevant parameters and processes
- Creation of a batch documentation accompanying the order in the form of batch protocols and overarching process monitoring
- Development of a series-ready transport carrier concept
- Expansion of the component spectrum based on experience and procedures
Ultimately, Viant decided to invest in its own cleaning system based on the High Purity PowerJet Ultra series due to increasing demand, high process stability requirements, and a trusting partnership with LPW and good previous experiences, with a request to deliver within four months to the Aura site in Spessart. Very ambitious – but based on the previous collaboration and the definition of all key project parameters, it was no problem for the Riederich cleaning experts. Thus, the PowerJet 670 T5 Twin Ultra (Medical) was developed with the following technical specifications:
- Batch size 670 x 480 x 300 mm
- Double-chamber system with a total of 5 tanks (cleaning, rinsing 1-4)
- Ultrasound chamber 1 with 25 Hz
- Ultrasound in chamber 2 with 40 kHz
- H13-filtered hot air drying
- Combined infrared-vacuum drying
- Integrated high-performance V/E circuit including UV disinfection for the final circuit rinse
- "Clean" automation as a connecting/transferring element from the pre-process
Over the cleaning process to the cleanroom with FFU units and integrated cleanroom lock, a batch protocol is created during ongoing operation based on integrated process monitoring (e.g., 4-fold conductivity measurement and particle monitoring), which is carried along with the respective batch via the integrated RFID system and expanded with each process step. Furthermore, the system includes a water supply consisting of a reverse osmosis unit to treat municipal water (approx. 300 μs) to a maximum value of 5 μs. Enabled by the LPW Reinstwasser system (UPW) for producing pre-tempered and sterilized ultrapure water (e.g., conductivity <0.2 μs).
Christian Koblenzer, Head of Customer Support: "Our core competencies include long-standing and cross-industry experience with ultra-clean processes. We share this very openly with our customers and accompany them down to the smallest detail on their way to implementing new requirements in technical cleanliness."
