In February 2025, LUM GmbH began a strategic sales partnership with the Chinese company Alpharmaca Inc., based in Shanghai, to meet the strong demand from the pharmaceutical sector and the semiconductor sector, and to assist customers with high local expertise in solving their questions in the field of particle and direct dispersion characterization and material testing.

Alpharmaca was founded in 2010 and is a company that supports the industrialization and modernization of Industry 4.0 in China, introducing leading technologies and products from abroad. Since its founding, Alpharmaca has focused on the pharmaceutical industry, nanotechnology, and other industries, as well as universities, research institutes, and other institutions. [1]

Susanne Lerche-Merchant, Managing Director of LUM GmbH, said, "With this new partnership, we strengthen our market presence in important future industries with specialized expertise to benefit our existing and future customers. With the single particle counter LUMiSpoc, we offer solutions for particle counting and particle size determination for the pharmaceutical industry, which, as previously reported, were also used in the development of COVID vaccines in Europe."

Grinding and polishing pastes and suspensions and their particle characterization, as well as their stability assessment in original concentration, are extremely important topics in the semiconductor industry, which determine the "well-being and woe" of, for example, silicon wafers.

We are pleased that the experts from Alpharmaca will be using both the LUMiSpoc and the LUMiSizer in their application laboratory in a few days to provide customers with different perspectives on the samples. The new collaboration is another step in the continuous development of our international strategy."
