Test Report Fraunhofer IPA, Tested Device Certificate

The speaker specialist DNH offers the world's only cleanroom speaker certified according to ISO 14644-14 for cleanroom class 1. And it is also class 1 in sound quality.

Admittedly: Cleanrooms are not symphony halls, and high-fidelity expectations are rarely placed on the devices used there for sound transmission. Nevertheless, the speakers installed in these pure environments must naturally provide the best possible sound quality. Primarily to fulfill their main function - transmitting spoken announcements and warning messages - with crystal clarity. Moreover, they must withstand harsh cleaning procedures and disinfection processes and have hermetically sealed, so-called fully encapsulated housings. Because under no circumstances should the boxes emit any particles or gases into the pristine environment.

Importance Often Underestimated

Among all the various devices and installations in cleanrooms, the area of loudspeakers seems inconspicuous. Yet, there is hardly a cleanroom that can do without these small noise transmission boxes. It is all the more important for cleanroom planners and operators to ensure from the outset through the right product selection that the loudspeakers are of extremely high quality and durability, completely maintenance-free, can be installed in various ways, and are fully encapsulated. Because any contamination of the clean environments by the acoustic systems must be ruled out.

All of this can be provided by the special cleanroom speakers from the Norwegian manufacturer DNH, with a German sales subsidiary in Hamburg, and now also certified with an official seal. The renowned Fraunhofer IPA Institute has certified the speaker CR-6(T) with the coveted "Tested Device" certification, confirming its flawless use in cleanrooms with air cleanliness class 1, making it unrivaled.

Extremely Tough

Although the CR-6(T) speaker may only require a part of its impressive qualities in most cleanroom applications, it might be interesting to know them all. The elegantly designed compact speaker is completely waterproof due to its encapsulation, making it suitable even for use in nautical environments, i.e., on boats and ships. No wonder, as it is produced in Norway, where the parent company DNH A/S was founded by sailors and today enjoys a very high reputation in the so-called Ex-area, i.e., explosion-proof zones. It can withstand temperatures from -20°C to +90°C or even a wash cycle with a high-pressure cleaner without damage. Otherwise, it is completely maintenance-free, meets the requirements of protection class IP67, and reproduces speech and music in excellent sound quality. It is important to note that the speech intelligibility of these speakers is very high, and they also offer excellent sound quality for potential music transmissions.

That the CR-6(T) is extremely robust is also demonstrated by the fact that it passed the hardness test for chemical resistance according to ISO 4628-1 and VDI 2083 Sheet 17 with flying colors at the Fraunhofer IPA Institute. During this test, the speaker was exposed to a 15% hydrogen peroxide disinfection solution for 24 hours and received an "Excellent" grade due to its good performance, earning a second "Tested Device" certificate. This makes this speaker the first choice, especially in areas with extreme hygiene requirements. The CR-6(T) offers maximum flexibility in installation thanks to its compact housing with integrated audio cable and sealed audio transformer. It can be installed on walls and ceilings, both flush-mounted and surface-mounted, in series with the desired number of "colleagues".

Versatile Applications

The manufacturer DNH primarily envisions this specialized speaker for cleanrooms in pharmaceutical and cosmetic production, as well as the healthcare system, such as hospitals, laboratories, clinics, or quarantine areas. But clean and ultra-clean rooms in the food industry according to ISO-14644,1-14, as well as applications in the IT sector, especially the semiconductor industry, are also in focus. Naturally, industrial companies in the aerospace and space sectors are also included.
