The Pöppelmann Group from Lohne, specialized in plastics processing, is represented at Fakuma, the International Trade Fair for Plastics Processing, from October 16 to 20, 2018, at the Friedrichshafen Exhibition Center, with an extensive program of value-added new products and services.

These are the trade fair highlights of the various divisions of the Pöppelmann Group: Pöppelmann K-TECH®, developer of technical plastic solutions among others for the automotive industry, expands its range with the newly added 2K-LSR process in the field of plastic sealing. Furthermore, the division presents Protectors4Connectors, an online shop that allows customers to quickly access protective systems and fastening elements made of plastic. The PÖPPELMANN blue® initiative consolidates all company-wide activities committed to a closed material cycle for plastic products and demonstrates, among other things, with the example of the Pöppelmann KAPSTO® division, how sustainable projects have been initiated with renowned partners.

New: Injection molding of two-component liquid silicone rubbers (LSR)

For components with very high sealing and temperature requirements, Pöppelmann K-TECH® now also offers injection molding in the 2-component process of two-component liquid silicone rubbers (Liquid Silicone Rubber LSR). In this process, a hard component (thermoplastic) is first injected, followed by the soft component (LSR). The process enables secure sealing and simultaneously allows bridging of high tolerances. The LSR exhibits excellent properties in pressure deformation tests, is characterized by good weather, aging, and UV resistance, as well as neutral odor. The fully automatic, one-step process also convinces at high batch sizes with high cost-effectiveness. Thanks to its reliable protection against moisture, chemicals, and high and low temperatures, LSR technology is excellent for industries and areas such as automotive, electronics, electrical, energy, household, transportation, medical & cosmetics, and more.

Protectors4Connectors – Pöppelmann K-TECH® Standard Program

The factor of time plays a decisive role in the automotive industry and many others when it comes to staying ahead in new developments. Pöppelmann K-TECH® delivers added value through Protectors4Connectors, an extensive range of plastic protection systems such as accessories for cable sets to protect and secure connectors, corrugated conduits, and cables. These can be ordered immediately, easily, and from anywhere online at the webshop www.protectors4connectors.de. An user-friendly search function with various filter options helps quickly select the right products and offers, among other things, a practical link with connector data from various manufacturers. The items in the webshop, which meet extensive applicable standards and specifications, can be used for more than 1,000 applications. Particularly practical are the flat caps for connectors included in the product range, which require little installation space. If a standard solution does not exist for a specific application, the Protectors4Connectors team quickly and conveniently develops a customer-specific solution: within just one week, the customer receives an article design and 3D-printed sample views, and within only six weeks, the customer-specific component solutions are delivered from series material.

PÖPPELMANN blue® initiative – Starter project from Pöppelmann KAPSTO®

Another trade fair focus of the plastics specialist is the broad-based PÖPPELMANN blue® initiative. The group consolidates numerous projects company-wide that are committed to a circular economy. An important part of the sustainability strategy is the use of recycled material. The divisions Pöppelmann K-TECH®, Pöppelmann KAPSTO®, and Pöppelmann FAMAC® provide information at the trade fair stand about exciting new developments and promising collaborations aimed at a closed material cycle and further advancing the PÖPPELMANN blue® initiative. For example, Pöppelmann KAPSTO® presents its pilot project with the agricultural machinery manufacturer Grimme, which will source its KAPSTO® protective elements from the innovative recycling material PÖPPELMANN blue® in the future. The caps and plugs are returned to the recycling process after use and fully recycled. This guarantees a closed raw material cycle. Interested parties have the opportunity to learn about various cooperation possibilities within the framework of PÖPPELMANN blue® at Fakuma, presented by the respective Pöppelmann divisions.

Pöppelmann FAMAC®: Bags with heat-sealed spouts – hygienic dispensing, easy handling

Pöppelmann FAMAC®, developer and producer of technical functional parts and modern packaging, presents at Fakuma, among other things, bag packaging with heat-sealed spouts. The particularly hygienic packaging concept stands for optimal dosing and simplified handling. The heat-sealed spout is closed with a valve and opens only through pressure on the actuation element. This allows the product to be dispensed air-free and retains its hygienic status even after the first opening. The heat-sealed spout series from Pöppelmann FAMAC® features a system with a guide groove, uniform dimensions, and various opening diameters between 8.5 and 21.5 mm. The larger diameters allow liquids or viscous and free-flowing substances to be dispensed more easily and dosed more accurately. The packaging system is suitable for both the pharmaceutical and food industries. As part of PÖPPELMANN blue®, Pöppelmann FAMAC® is also working on fully recyclable foil bags with spouts to offer fully recyclable bag packaging in the future, which can be reused as raw material for manufacturing new spouts, caps, and bags after use.
