At the interpack, which takes place from May 8 to 14, 2014, in Düsseldorf, Multivac Marking & Inspection is represented in two exhibition halls. In Hall 5, Stand E23, the labeling specialist introduces a new generation of label dispensers, characterized by their very high labeling accuracy and speed. These label dispensers are used in the new conveyor belt labelers, which now include affordable entry-level models for simple labeling tasks alongside high-end devices. In Hall 17, Stand A51, the company showcases its folding carton labeler for the LifeScience and Healthcare industries.

Hall 5, Stand E23

The new label dispensers from Multivac Marking & Inspection operate with servo technology, enabling them to achieve not only particularly high performance but also maximum labeling accuracy. Thanks to their integrated control and drive technology, they are especially space-saving in design and can be optimally integrated into existing conveyor systems, filling lines, or packaging machines. Various communication interfaces ensure integration into a wide range of control environments. The labeling specialist initially installed the new dispenser generation in its conveyor belt labelers, which are on display at the fair in various configurations – both as standalone devices and integrated into packaging lines. Alongside the proven high-end models of Series L 310, the company is launching the new Baseline L 300 series at interpack 2014. This series includes cost-effective entry-level models for simple labeling tasks, maintaining Multivac's quality standards.

In the area of labeling and printing on thermoforming machines, the company presents a solution with two cross-web labelers MR625 OP, which can be built extremely space-saving thanks to a special safety control for distance monitoring. "The use of two cross-web labelers allows for uninterrupted operation. For large batches, it is also possible for the two labelers to share a tool format, enabling particularly high performance," explains Volker Gerloff, Managing Director of Multivac Marking & Inspection. A foil direct printer MR293 TT ensures that production data is securely printed directly onto the foil without manipulation.

From its comprehensive portfolio of inspection systems, the company displays a control scale with metal detector MR822 and automatic recipe download from the Multivac tray sealer, as well as an X-ray inspection device MR812. The labeling systems are equipped with different optical inspection systems for label and print control.

Hall 17, A51

In Hall 17, the company presents its folding carton labeler, which allows users from the LifeScience and Healthcare sectors to implement the requirements of EU Directive 2011/62/EU. From 2016, medicines distributed within the EU must carry both a unique identifier and an anti-tampering feature, which manufacturers must affix to the outer packaging. The folding carton labeler from Multivac Marking & Inspection enables tamper-evident sealing of medication cartons' closure flaps with seal labels; additionally, the flaps can also be printed with serial barcodes, which are increasingly used worldwide for authenticity verification and traceability.

The folding carton labeler features a GMP-compliant design and a pharmaceutically suitable enclosure. It can be combined with various printing and inspection systems. Poorly packed products are ejected, and the product discharge is checked. It is also possible to connect it to higher-level drug manufacturer databases via track-and-trace systems. The folding carton labeler can be easily retrofitted into existing lines without changing the packaging machine. Qualification of the standalone auxiliary system is as straightforward as validation, which is only necessary for this additional process step.
