The Comfort S6 from the Villach-based company Ortner significantly revolutionizes daily operations in laboratories and represents the new generation of material pass-through systems. The product was awarded at the German Innovation Award 2021.

The increasing importance of automation in cleanrooms, the simplification of operation, and safety aspects are setting higher demands on material pass-through systems. With the new generation Comfort S6, Ortner has succeeded in developing a future-proof product: a pass-through technology that, despite its technological complexity and performance capabilities, is designed to be as simple, straightforward, and intuitive to operate as possible.

Innovation from Carinthia

The Comfort S6 convinced the jury of the German Innovation Award 2021. Ortner's material pass-through won the "Excellence in Business to Business" category within the "Machines & Engineering" competition class.

After intensive development work, the Carinthian company brought the technological innovation to market: The material pass-through impresses with technical features such as autonomous ventilation, easy assembly, an intelligent control concept, and increased safety. Digitalization, automation, and appealing industrial design were also considered.

Versatile Applications

All current requirements of the cleanroom industry were taken into account during the development of the new generation of material pass-through systems: high functionality, easy installation, user-friendliness, flexibility, high energy efficiency, and increased productivity.

With the MD Comfort S6, an innovative product has been created that can be used in numerous areas: Material pass-through systems are crucial in the pharmaceutical and life sciences industries or medical fields, from laboratories to production. They are used wherever goods, materials, tools, or material samples are transferred between rooms of different cleanliness classes in a controlled manner. They provide safe and reliable protection when loading and unloading products and materials.

Award from Germany

The German Innovation Award recognizes products and solutions across industries that are distinguished primarily by user-centricity and added value compared to previous solutions – innovations that shape the future and improve lives. The award highlights outstanding achievements for a broad audience. In 2021, the German Innovation Award received 680 submissions, demonstrating great resonance.

The jury consists of independent, interdisciplinary experts from industry, science, institutions, and finance. The evaluation of submissions is based on criteria such as level of innovation, user benefit, and economic viability. The innovation strategy should consider aspects such as social, ecological, and economic sustainability, as well as energy and resource use. Location and employment potential, durability, market readiness, technical quality and function, materiality, and synergy effects are also key factors in the judging process.
