6.4 billion tablets and capsules are produced annually at Takeda's site in Oranienburg. With the cleanroom hardware from Systec & Solutions and the switch to a new MES system, the company continues its success story.

"Since we switched to the new system, documentation works automatically. This means deviations from the standard, for example when weighing raw materials, are displayed. Our Quality Unit is informed and can take targeted action, as only the deviations need to be checked. This saves considerable time and capacity," notes Manuel Parrau, the MES project manager. "Additionally, the procedures and responsibilities for all involved in the manufacturing process are made even more transparent. Through stricter guidance by the system, errors are reduced and the Quality KPIs are improved."

With new software and hardware for even more efficiency

This is made possible by the new Manufacturing Execution System Werum PAS-X MES from the software experts of Körber's Pharma business field. The documentation of individual production steps is done electronically and paperless – making the processes even more efficient. But not only the right software is crucial: "Central to the switch was also the choice of suitable hardware," reports Robert Gundlach, IT project manager. "The computer terminals in production must meet the highest quality standards, especially regarding hygiene and safety. For example, when raw materials are processed that can accumulate on or penetrate into the devices."

A good team: Takeda and Systec & Solutions

"After comparing several hardware manufacturers, the choice was very clear for Systec & Solutions," continues Robert Gundlach. "What convinced us besides the quality of the devices was their easy cleaning and disinfection, the performance of the computing units, and the excellent service from the manufacturer." But that's not all: "Systec & Solutions is the system partner of our software provider. The terminals are thus perfectly matched to the MES software. For example, the large displays make input easier on the quite detailed user interfaces of the applications."

The hardware from Systec & Solutions is used in various spatial situations in operation – and meets all individual requirements. The variants range from fixed-mounted devices on the wall to portable solutions on swiveling arms to mobile terminals. For the latter, wireless inductive charging technology is another practical innovation that further reduces the contamination risk in the cleanroom.

The company site in Oranienburg produces more than 120 medicinal products in solid dosage forms. "Thanks to state-of-the-art technologies and best-in-class processes, we are a role model within the corporate network," says Manuel Parrau. "The switch to the new software and hardware reinforces this status. We have developed the new business processes across departments." With the support of Systec & Solutions, the company site is moving closer to one of its most important goals: the best possible performance for optimal patient care.
