The packaging is the key to successful marketing of a product. The greater the added value for the end consumer, the better. In addition to an appealing appearance, modern packaging must also be user-friendly and, depending on the application and industry, fulfill specific functions such as easy dosing, child safety, or senior friendliness. At Fakuma 2017, Pöppelmann FAMAC® will present, among other things, innovative series and custom solutions in the area of heat-sealed spouts.

Pöppelmann FAMAC® develops and produces technical functional parts and modern packaging for a wide range of industries. The experienced packaging developers work according to the Universal Design concept: meaning that products are designed with careful consideration of the properties and needs of users, so that they can be used by as many people as possible without further adjustment or specialization. Products in Universal Design, such as the PouchBooster® with heat-sealed spout, are characterized by meaningful and intelligent design, are intuitive to use, and fault-tolerant.

To meet the high expectations of customers for ergonomic packaging design, the plastic specialists from Lohne continuously optimize the development and production of heat-sealed spouts. Over the past few years, the PouchBooster® has developed into a comprehensive solution that meets all requirements. The heat-sealed spout has become a central element of the pouch and an indispensable component for consumers.

Innovative dosing system for air-free, hygienic dispensing systems

Pöppelmann FAMAC® also offers heat-sealed spouts as custom solutions for various application areas – for example, for air-free multiple dispensing of demanding hygiene products. Together with Schülke + Mayr GmbH from Norderstedt, Pöppelmann FAMAC® developed a straightforward, hygienic packaging concept. The solution prevents air from entering the packaging during product dispensing or residue buildup on the lid, as is often the case with existing solutions. “We wanted a simple and safe dispensing system with good residual emptying, suitable for sterilization, and operable with one hand without contaminating the product,” explains Lars Teutenberg from Schülke. The experts at Pöppelmann FAMAC® then designed a heat-sealed spout that is closed by a valve and only opens when pressure is applied to the actuation element. This allows the product to be dispensed air-free while maintaining its hygienic status throughout the application. The solution is also applicable across industries, for example, as a portioner for sauces or ketchup in the catering industry.

Rapid Prototyping for fast development

Particularly for the development of customized special solutions, the use of rapid prototyping is especially important. The modern in-house additive manufacturing enables Pöppelmann FAMAC® to create prototypes in the shortest possible time. “A modern, market- and future-proof packaging according to Universal Design criteria requires a lengthy development phase. With our 3D-printed prototypes, we accelerate coordination with our customers and thus save time and costs,” explains Engelbert Rechtien from Pöppelmann FAMAC®.

The FAMAC® working method: efficient and safe

In the development and production of technically demanding functional parts and assemblies, Pöppelmann FAMAC® places particular emphasis on the highest quality and economically optimal solutions. A certified quality management system according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2008 and 13485:2010, as well as the certified hygiene management system HACCP, provide customers with additional security. At the same time, FAMAC® project managers know what matters: short development times, targeted product optimization, and secure process planning ensure the crucial competitive advantage. For the highest level of cleanliness, Pöppelmann FAMAC® also offers the possibility to produce particularly sensitive injection-molded parts under cleanroom conditions.

In Hall B5, Stand 5107, trade visitors at Fakuma 2017 from October 17 to 21 will have the opportunity to get an initial impression of the versatile FAMAC® solutions – from standard programs to customized solutions.
