Contract signing for the new industrial flagship trade fair in Bern

The associations Swissmem, Swissmechanic, and tecnoswiss have today signed a contract with BERNEXPO GROUP for the future new flagship trade fair for the machine tool industry, machine and tool dealers, and suppliers of the MEM industry. This will take place every two years starting in 2021, each March in Bern. The first event will be held from March 2nd to 5th, 2021.

With the new flagship trade fair, Swissmem, Swissmechanic, and tecnoswiss are targeting their member associations as well as all relevant representatives of the machinery, electrical, and metal industries (MEM industry) at the Swiss industrial location. Included are trading companies for machine tools and tools. It replaces the previous fairs Prodex, Swisstech, and Industrialis.

Together, the three umbrella organizations aim to offer a trade fair that consolidates the latest developments, product innovations, and key information. Additionally, the new flagship trade fair is intended to increase the visibility of the industry both within and outside the MEM industry.

Stefan Brupbacher, Director of Swissmem, is pleased that the collaboration between the three associations has been established. "The machine and manufacturing technology industry is a significant economic factor. It deserves its own focused flagship trade fair in Switzerland." From the perspective of the tecnoswiss association, the three organizations are sending a strong signal: "As a national industry platform, the new flagship trade fair will represent and strengthen all relevant market participants of the metalworking industry in the Swiss industrial landscape," says Pirmin Zehnder, Vice President of tecnoswiss and President of the Metal Group. Roland Goethe, President of Swissmechanic, is convinced that valuable synergies will be created with the new industry fair: "We want to create a platform that functions as a gathering place for the industry and at the same time provides a representative overview of the latest offerings and trends."
