The Red Dot Jury has decided: The collaborative robot Motoman HC10DT IP67 from Yaskawa was successfully awarded the "Red Dot Award: Product Design 2020" and was recognized for its excellent design quality with the Red Dot. This makes Yaskawa one of the winners of the most prestigious design competition worldwide.

The MRK-capable Motoman HC10DT IP67 is both dust- and waterproof. Thanks to its IP67 protection rating, the 6-axis robot can be used even in demanding environments where it may be exposed to dirt or liquids. Like the base model HC10DT, the new IP67 variant combines the best of two worlds: it merges the stability and high movement speeds of an industrial robot with the safe limitation of contact forces between operator and robot, enabling true human-robot collaboration (HRC). As a robot with performance and force limitation, the HC10DT IP67 can be used according to the technical specification ISO TS15066. It does not require additional protective measures, making installation extremely flexible.

Thorough review of the submitted products

The Red Dot Award: Product Design provides designers and manufacturers from around the world with a platform to evaluate their products. In 2020, designers and companies from 60 nations submitted more than 6,500 products to the competition. The international jury, consisting of experienced experts from various fields, has been convening for around 65 years to identify the best designs. The multi-day evaluation process is based on two essential criteria: the jurors test all entries to assess not only aesthetics but also the selected materials, craftsmanship, surface texture, ergonomics, and functionality. Only after intensive discussions do they make a decision about the design quality of the products. True to the motto "In search of good design and innovation," only the best designs receive an award.
