An ISO Class 7 cleanroom cabin for the production of products for medical eye implants

As the German manufacturer of products for medical eye implants, MORCHER®, needed an air filtration system for its production areas to achieve a particle count according to ISO 14644-1 Class 7; the modular cleanroom from Connect 2 Cleanrooms offered the perfect solution.

MORCHER® is one of the internationally leading manufacturers of products for medical eye surgery. Specializing in eye implants, the company uses the latest micro-manufacturing processes for the development and production of implants for cataract surgery. Connect 2 Cleanrooms develops standalone cleanroom solutions that create an exceptionally clean environment using HEPA filters.

The two companies met at MEDTEC in Stuttgart, where MORCHER® was convinced by the quality, flexibility, and modular design of Connect 2 Cleanrooms' cleanroom solution. Throughout the entire project, MORCHER® maintained contact with the German sales manager of Connect 2 Cleanrooms, Stephen Trundle, who enabled installation and sustainable commissioning within three days.

With a modular cleanroom design, Connect 2 Cleanrooms can quickly and easily create a localized clean area within an existing room to meet the requirements of specific production processes. The cleanroom installed at MORCHER® uses HEPA filters with built-in fan units. These achieve 99.99% efficiency at 0.3 microns. The particle count and air exchange thus meet the requirements of ISO 14644-1 Class 7.

The HEPA filters of the modular cleanroom stand out due to their outstanding performance, thanks to a combination of low noise level, low power consumption, and a low profile. With a dimension of only 51 dBA, the 600mm x 1210mm HEPA Filter Fan Units (FFUs) are the quietest of all FFUs. With 220 watts at an outlet velocity of 0.45 m/s, the device offers a versatile, compact, and quiet solution for modular cleanrooms.
