Aseptisches Arbeiten und Hygiene im Zellkulturlabor

Event location:
Elmshorn
Organizer:
Berner International GmbH

The course offers a comprehensive and practical introduction over two days to the importance and implementation of hygiene principles and aseptic working techniques in the cell culture laboratory. It provides in-depth knowledge on avoiding contamination and safely conducting cell culture work.

The theoretical part introduces key concepts, legal requirements, and proven principles. Additionally, a system for developing individual laboratory standards is presented.

The practical part includes an interactive workshop where the theoretical content is applied in practice. Typical sources of errors are identified, analyzed, and evaluated directly in the laboratory environment.

The aim of the course is to promote systematic and safe working methods, reduce contamination risks, and develop a solid understanding of meaningful hygiene measures. The course content is flexibly scalable – from basic research to GMP-compliant assay laboratories.

Course times:

Day 1: 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM

Day 2: 09:00 AM to 04:00 PM

During the seminar, the following topics will be covered:

Theoretical part:

  • Cleanroom systems and their requirements
  • Sterilization and disinfection of reagents and laboratory equipment
  • Surface disinfection and personal protective equipment
  • Functionality and design of the laminar flow cabinet
  • Derived working principles as a systematic foundation
  • Causes, types, and prevention of contamination
  • The importance of hygiene in the GMP environment
  • Relevance of hygienic measures for ATMP (Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products)
  • Risk analysis as a basis for informed decisions

All content is based on existing knowledge in cell culture techniques.

Practical part:

  • Demonstration: Functionality and design of laminar flow cabinets
  • Workshop: Organization and positioning within the biosafety cabinet
  • Workshop: Handling of special materials in the cabinet
  • Practical troubleshooting with direct feedback during execution
  • Demonstration with smoke generators to visualize airflow
  • Loading and introducing materials into the sterile cabinet
  • Development of a safe aseptic concept for complex processes
