Dietmar Pfennig
Dietmar Pfennig was born in 1971 in Kempten/Allgäu and has been active in the family business since his youth, one of the leading manufacturers of manual cleaning systems for professional users, and has been owner and managing director since 2005.
After studying Business Administration with a minor in Computer Science at LMU in Munich, he officially joined the company in 1997, where he was responsible for the Healthcare division and, together with other partner companies, developed the ProMop system—the first fully automatic pre-sterilization system for mop covers in hospitals. Simultaneously, he completed extensive training to become a master of building cleaning, which he finished in 2003 with the master craftsman's exam.
From these experiences and his ongoing engagement with the theory and practice of cleaning in highly sensitive areas, he developed the Clino CR system in 1999—the first certified cleaning system for cleanrooms in the pharmaceutical industry. The newly founded business division "PPS Pharma" has since been continuously expanded and now offers a complete range of cleaning equipment for cleanrooms.
Dietmar Pfennig considers cleanroom cleaning as the "king's discipline" in professional building cleaning and is as involved as possible in developments in this field. Last year, he launched "EasyMop GMP," the first process-safe cleaning and disinfection system with "Tested-Device" certification up to Class A/B.
What did you want to become as a child?
Pilot – I became one, but not professionally.
What was your first car?
Mercedes 190 "Ponton" from 1958, bought directly from the first owner. I still have it today.
What do you look forward to?
When the sun is shining and the family is doing well. Fine wines and good food also contribute greatly to well-being.
What achievements are you particularly proud of?
Passing the solo flight exam for gliders at the age of 14. Balancing career and family.
Which technical achievements do you admire the most?
The construction of the Pont du Gard with its aqueduct—achieving a (nearly) uniform slope over 50 km with the means available 2000 years ago is, to me, comparable to the engineering feats achieved in cleanrooms today.
In which country would you like to have a second residence?
In southern Switzerland (Ticino).
Whom would you like to swap places with for a month?
I would prefer to briefly exchange with some decision-makers in politics and business: whenever decisions are made whose outcomes I simply cannot understand...
Who would you like to meet?
The great founders of religions. I have a few detailed questions for them.
Which book would you currently recommend?
"Nothing but the World: Reports and Eyewitness Accounts from 2500 Years." A fascinating opportunity to broaden your horizon.
What is your favorite food?
The Allgäu national dish: Käsespätzle.
What is your favorite music?
Soul from the 60s and 70s, Celtic and French music.
What was the best advice you ever received?
Be an original and not a copy – this applies to people just as much as to products...
Do you have a motto?
"Lant it luck!" (Allgäu dialect for "Don't let go," meaning "Keep at it, never give up").
