Ypsomed commissions IE Plast with the realization of a new production plant

The Swiss medical technology company Ypsomed, which operates internationally, and IE Plast signed a general contractor (GÜ) contract for the planning and realization of a new production plant in Schwerin, where injection and infusion systems will be produced in the future. Production is scheduled to start in the first half of 2019.

At Ypsomed's Swiss headquarters in Burgdorf, Ypsomed and IE Plast signed the GÜ contract for the realization of the new plant in Schwerin in December 2017. The new site involves constructing a facility approximately 24,000 m² in size. The focus is on efficient, future-proof, and expandable production with modern workplaces, a high standard of design and aesthetics of the building, and sustainability.

IE Plast guarantees adherence to costs, quality, and deadlines for the project.

With the signing of the contract, IE Plast was once again able to impress a renowned company in the medical technology industry with its expertise in planning and implementing demanding production facilities.

Successfully solving complex project requirements

As with all IE projects, architects and operations planners from IE work together under one roof. In addition to building design, this project focuses on operational planning aspects such as production and process flow, material and personnel flow, as well as hygiene and cleanroom requirements to optimize manufacturing processes.

Project manager Thomas Fischer explains: “The challenge of this project is to plan and realize a production facility that, on the one hand, meets the specific production processes, some of which are under cleanroom conditions, and on the other hand, fulfills the need for maximum flexibility.
This allows for economical production while also enabling quick responses to market needs. For this, intelligent space and supply concepts are required, which must be implemented within a tight schedule.”
