WISAG expands pharmacy of the Brandenburg Municipal Hospital
The Brandenburg Municipal Hospital is being expanded with a new building housing the pharmacy, pathology, and laboratories of the Brandenburg Medical University. The cleanroom experts from the WISAG Industrial Service Group, one of Germany's largest industrial service providers, are responsible for the expansion of the pharmacy area. The completion of this section is planned for December of this year.
"For the Brandenburg Municipal Hospital, we are taking on the expansion of the manufacturing area for cytostatics and sterile preparations, as well as the unit-dose area. The planned production volume is approximately 14,000 cytostatic preparations and around 1,000 sterile productions per year," says Axel Tesch, responsible sales engineer at WISAG Building and Industrial Services in Dresden. "As a full-service provider, we are responsible for the entire expansion. Currently, about 15 installers, a project manager, and a designer are working on it. Cleanrooms of GMP classes D to B are being built on an area of 150 m²." Thanks to three-dimensional planning, ceilings, walls, ventilation ducts, piping, and electrical conduits can be better visualized and coordinated before execution. The completion of the pharmacy area is scheduled for the end of this year, with the move and commissioning expected to take place in spring 2019.
The pharmacy's site is located on the hospital grounds, bordering Marienberg to the north. The hospital pharmacy supplies around 1,400 hospital beds and the city's emergency services with medicines, bandages, X-ray contrast agents, as well as pharmaceuticals and implants.
