Weidmüller expands location in Canada

The electrical engineering company Weidmüller has expanded its presence in Canada. At the end of September, Sales Director Dr. Timo Berger inaugurated the fully renovated facility in Markham, Ontario, during an open house, which serves as a warehouse, office building, and training center. Customers, employees, and distributors attended the small ceremony on the nearly 28,000 square meter site. For Weidmüller, following the acquisition of the sales companies in 2017, this is an important step to strengthen its presence in the Canadian market. "Here in Canada, we have a great market position that we want to use as a basis for developing new business," explained Berger. "With the expanded location, we can now communicate even more intensively with our customers and respond to their needs."

Berger guided visitors through the entire event, which, after the ceremonial opening, also included a shared meal and a factory tour. In addition to the redesigned training center, which employees use for product demonstrations and technical information sessions, visitors mainly examined the optimized warehouse: new equipment was added, and the layout was revised, significantly simplifying and speeding up the entire workflow for inventory. Since 1975, Weidmüller has been supplying all customers in Canada from the warehouse in Markham. "The Canadian and North American markets are an important growth driver for our company," said Berger. "Our global strategy, investments, and local infrastructure help us to further expand our business and establish Weidmüller as an expert in the field of IIoT and control cabinet construction."

Approximately 30 people work at the Markham location — more than 50 employees are active for Weidmüller across Canada.
