Weidmüller awarded the German Innovation Award 2020

The price that makes innovations visible: The Detmold-based electrical engineering company Weidmüller received the German Innovation Award 2020 in the "Machines & Engineering" category of the "Excellence in Business to Business" competition class. The independent jury awarded the web-based control u-control 2000 web, which impressed with its IoT capability, demand-oriented scalability, and compact u-remote design. "With u-control 2000 web, we have developed an easy web-based and efficient control system that optimally supports Industrial IoT applications and meets all user needs," explains Dr. Thomas Bürgen, Head of the Automation and Digitalization Products Division at Weidmüller. "We are pleased that the great innovation potential was also recognized by the jury – this is both praise and motivation for us."

Innovations as the foundation for entrepreneurial success

The German Innovation Award recognizes across industries products and solutions that are primarily distinguished by user-centricity and added value compared to previous solutions. Because: innovations that shape the future and improve life exist in all industries. For Weidmüller, this is not the first award for its innovative capabilities: at the beginning of the year, Weidmüller already received the German Design Award and the German Excellence Award. "Innovations, together with application expertise, consistent processes, and the latest manufacturing methods, are the foundation for entrepreneurial success," emphasizes Volker Bibelhausen, CEO and CTO of Weidmüller. "Therefore, we continuously invest in research and development and will focus even more on developing IIoT solutions that complement our existing portfolio in the future."

High resonance for the German Innovation Award 2020

The German Innovation Award is awarded by the Council for Formgebung and again achieved great resonance in 2020 with 700 submissions. Launched by the German Bundestag and sponsored by the German industry, the Council for Formgebung is committed as an independent and internationally active institution to the competitiveness of companies.
