The specialists from SIGMASOFT® in conversation with trade visitors at Fakuma 2012.

From October 16th to 20th, SIGMA Engineering GmbH showcased its injection molding simulation SIGMASOFT® at Fakuma in Friedrichshafen. A large number of visitors learned about the diverse applications of injection molding simulation at all stages of the development chain, from component design to troubleshooting in production. Daily, industry professionals took the opportunity to exchange expertise with SIGMA Engineering GmbH's simulation experts about the benefits of the process-oriented simulation approach for applications involving thermoplastics, elastomers, thermosets, and MIM. Particular interest was also shown in SIGMASOFT®'s ability to virtually reproduce the entire injection molding process, enabling even more accurate results.

"The trade fair was a complete success for us," stated Dr. Marco Thornagel, authorized signatory of SIGMA, at the end of the last day of the fair. "Fakuma remains the most important trade fair for us in the German-speaking market. We were able to establish many new contacts once again and present the advantages of SIGMASOFT® as a development and process-supporting simulation. Both potential and existing customers showed great interest in further developing their skills in virtual injection molding. The fact that many of our long-standing customers visited us at our booth demonstrates how much they value direct contact with us and our software development, as well as the opportunity to learn about innovations firsthand during such events. They clearly see this as an advantage of SIGMASOFT®." He added, "We are naturally already looking forward to participating again in two years."

A key focus of the presentation at the trade fair was the introduction of virtual injection molding with SIGMASOFT®. By considering not only the complete tool with all its components but also all cycle times in the simulation over multiple cycles, the injection molding process can be reproduced in detail. Causes of problems can be easily identified, and countermeasures tested and compared before costs and materials are wasted. The potential of SIGMASOFT® to improve the injection molding process goes far beyond the capabilities of conventional simulation methods.

Next, SIGMA Engineering GmbH will present its process simulation SIGMASOFT® and its application possibilities in the field of medical technology from February 26 to 28, 2013, at MEDTEC in Stuttgart (Hall 1, N aisle, Stand 47).
