For the second time, the VIP3000 Award was presented to students of the Albstadt-Sigmaringen University of Applied Sciences (Faculty of Life Sciences). Four teams presented their concepts for different production sites to the expert jury. On January 21, the winning concept was awarded.

As in the previous year, four student teams from the Faculty of Life Sciences competed with different concepts. Team one developed a concept for "Planning a production site for filling biopharmaceutical products into vials," team two focused on "Planning a production plant for two billion tablets per year," team three devised solutions for a "Production site for manufacturing buffer solutions," and team four presented a concept for a "Ready-made cake factory producing 15 million cakes per year."

"It was very practical. The students researched, planned, conceptualized, tested, calculated for weeks, and sometimes discarded the approaches they had already developed – of course all under GxP considerations. In the end, outstanding work was produced," said Rino Woyczyk, Vice President of VIP3000, as well as partner of the project manager and consultant Drees & Sommer.

In mid-January, the teams presented their theses to fellow students, the program director Prof.-Dr. Enrico Grothe, and the Vice President of VIP3000, Rino Woyczyk. This year, the winning team was led by Martin Faigle, Markus Haas, Simon Lewald, and Milan Rauschecker. Their concept for "Planning a production site for filling biopharmaceutical products into vials for clinical trials" convinced the jury.

On January 21, the winners received the €500 prize from the Vice President of VIP3000, Rino Woyczyk, at the Albstadt-Sigmaringen University of Applied Sciences.

About the VIP3000 Award

The VIP3000 Award was first presented in 2015. It will annually recognize outstanding student research papers in the future. The occasion for the newly established VIP3000 Award is the connection of the VIP3000 association to the Albstadt-Sigmaringen University of Applied Sciences, which has existed since 1995. Created on the occasion of the 20th anniversary, this award aims to promote students in the life sciences industry.
