– Report now also includes Scope 3 emissions
– Social responsibility for employees is an important part of sustainability activities
– Total emissions to be reduced by ten percent by 2029

Vetter, a globally leading Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO), continues its sustainability strategy consistently: The company recently published its second sustainability report. For the first time, the globally operating pharmaceutical service provider with headquarters in Ravensburg also reports its Scope 3 emissions and presents its CO2 balance in accordance with the international Green House Gas Protocol. Despite dynamic growth, the company was able to significantly reduce electricity consumption and CO2 emissions per euro of gross value added compared to the previous year. By 2029, the total emissions caused are to be reduced by ten percent relative to the base year 2019.

Sustainability creates resilience and reliability in the supply chain

Managing Director Thomas Otto explains: "We support our customers in the production of high-quality and essential medicines for their patients. Few topics occupy our company as intensively as sustainability. Functioning supply chains are non-negotiable for us. With our sustainability report, we make our measures, successes, and goals transparent. This provides our partners with security in implementing their own sustainability targets."

Henryk Badack, Senior Vice President of Technical Service and Internal Project Management, adds: "Without support from all levels of the company and without the committed backing of the management and the owner families, we would not be where we are today in terms of sustainability." With 100 percent renewable electricity, the CDMO was already a pioneer in the pharmaceutical industry in 2014. Since then, Vetter has significantly advanced the expansion and conversion of its individual locations in the areas of renewable energy, resource efficiency, and circular economy.

Social responsibility in focus

Taking responsibility for employees and making a sustainable contribution to society is an important pillar of the pharmaceutical service provider's sustainability strategy: A comprehensive health management system with targeted offerings for employees in different life situations is part of the profile, as are high-quality training and development programs. For example, Vetter offers all employees a free occupational supplementary health insurance to cover additional services often not covered by statutory health insurance.
For its commitment to sustainable mobility, Vetter was awarded the Baden-Württemberg State Prize "We Make Traffic Transition" in 2022.

Furthermore, the CDMO secured first place at the Sustainable Impact Award 2022 in the category Social Impact on Employees, which is awarded to the most attractive medium-sized employers focusing on employee satisfaction.

Premiere for rebranded corporate identity

At the same time, the pharmaceutical service provider presents its rebranded corporate identity. CEO Peter Sölkner states: "Our company is characterized by sustainably strong growth. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for patients worldwide. Our claim is reliability – for our customers, suppliers, and employees, in short: at all levels. With our rebranded identity, we want to make this promise even clearer – through strong corporate values and embedded in a dynamic design. Our new appearance authentically reflects what defines Vetter at its core and what we stand for."
