US locations with strong performance and major expansion projects

Vetter continues to grow in the USA. The site in Skokie, Illinois, remains a key partner for global biotech companies. Since its opening, the site has supported over 140 customers and more than 350 active substances on the demanding path through clinical development. Over 40% of Skokie’s customers are startups or small companies with fewer than 50 employees.

Building on this foundation, construction of the new 15,000-square-meter facility in Des Plaines, Illinois, is progressing on schedule. With the steel structure expected to be completed soon, interior work will begin. After commissioning in 2029, the site will further increase Vetter’s clinical production capacities in the USA and strengthen the company's long-term commitment.

European site grows in response to customer demand

Vetter’s European manufacturing facility in Rankweil, Austria, is also developing very positively in the production and quality control of drug candidates for clinical trials. To meet the steadily increasing project volume, Vetter is implementing several infrastructural adjustments at the site.

The measures include establishing an additional weighing room and another formulation area within the aseptic production zone. Capacity for manual optical inspection is also being increased. Additionally, the service offerings at the site will benefit from new cooling rooms, specialized freezing units for API storage, and another incubation chamber for microbiological testing.

Through continued process optimization and capacity expansion on both sides of the Atlantic, Vetter is strengthening its role as a global partner for comprehensive and cGMP-compliant clinical development and aseptic manufacturing. Close coordination between the European and US sites ensures harmonized processes, consistent quality standards, and the flexibility needed to meet the evolving requirements of customers worldwide.
