The pharmaceutical service provider Vetter has constructed a new multifunctional building at the Schützenstraße location within the planned timeframe of nearly two years. The building was constructed due to increasing customer demand for support in drug development and the need for advanced information technology systems to prepare early for future requirements from clients and authorities. The investment of around 29 million euros is part of the 300-million-euro investment package announced in September 2015 for the further development and expansion of the company's manufacturing capacities.

Vetter supports numerous leading pharmaceutical and biotech companies worldwide, from early drug development to commercial manufacturing and final packaging of their medications. The continuously rising demand from both large and small clients for development services, as well as the need for future-oriented IT systems to protect all customer data, led to the construction of the 8,500 m2 six-story building. It includes both non-cGMP laboratories for various development activities and laboratories for microbiological analyses, as well as office workplaces for Vetter Development Service and the company's IT department. The centerpiece of the building is a highly secure data center with a security cell that protects technology and data as effectively as possible in case of emergency.

“With the installation of forward-looking IT systems, we are proactively supporting many customers' demands for increased connectivity with their manufacturing partners. Efficient and, above all, secure data exchange and storage are becoming increasingly important in our collaboration with our clients,” says Oliver Albrecht, Managing Director of Vetter. “Our new building once again demonstrates that we are well prepared for the current and future requirements of the industry.” His colleague Thomas Otto, also a Managing Director, adds: “The multifunctional building allows us to better serve the increasing demand from our customers for support in their drug development. The current investments in both development services and our IT system reflect two of the key areas of our focus as an innovative development and manufacturing partner in the injectable sector.”

Sustained positive company development

The continued rising demand from clients in the areas of clinical development, commercial manufacturing, and final packaging led to another very successful year for Vetter in 2015. The pharmaceutical service provider was able to increase its revenue by approximately 10 percent. The company currently employs around 3,600 staff at its German, American, and Asian locations.

The past year was again very eventful for Vetter. A total of nine drug approvals for its clients, including for the North American, European, and Japanese markets, were successfully supported. In the third quarter, Vetter opened a new branch in Tokyo, Japan, which strengthens the distribution office opened in Singapore in 2014, serving as a hub for Asia. A few weeks earlier, the company launched Vetter-Ject® on the market. This is a new closure system for prefilled syringes, particularly suitable for highly sensitive substances, such as biological active ingredients.
