VDI experts awarded for exceptional achievements

As part of the annual conference of the VDI Society Building and Building Services, held on September 26, 2014, in Bamberg, deserving members from the VDI specialist areas of Architecture, Construction Technology, and Technical Building Equipment were honored.

Dipl.-Phys. Ing. Rolf Joska was awarded the VDI Honor Plaque for his services to the topic of "Barrier-Free Living Spaces." Rolf Joska has been significantly involved in the development of VDI guidelines since 2002, particularly in the VDI 6008 series. In addition to technical issues in committee work, Rolf Joska has always kept an eye on societal development and has recognized and addressed barriers of economic or social nature. The VDI owes him a pragmatic set of rules. Rolf Joska has made significant contributions to reducing barriers and enabling building use — without external help — for as many people as possible. The VDI Department of Architecture explicitly thanks GIRA Giersiepen GmbH, which promotes and supports this commitment of its employee.

Dr.-Ing. Udo Gommel from Fraunhofer IPA was awarded the VDI Honor Plaque for his special contributions to cleanroom technology, both nationally and internationally. In particular, Dr. Gommel has made significant contributions to the further development of the VDI 2083 guideline series. Dr. Gommel has been active in the Cleanroom Technology Committee of the TGA Department since 2004.

REHVA, the European umbrella organization of engineering associations for Technical Building Equipment, awarded Franziska Bockelmann the status of REHVA Fellow during the annual conference.
