Vaisala presents new wireless temperature data logger with long-range for GxP-compliant monitoring

Vaisala introduces the latest data logger model in the RFL series – the RFL100 for pure temperature measurements. The data logger operates with Vaisala's developed VaiNet wireless technology for temperature monitoring in cooling and freezing systems, incubators, liquid nitrogen tanks, cold rooms, and ultra-low temperature freezers.

Depending on environmental conditions, the wireless data loggers can communicate with each other over a distance of 100 meters in enclosed spaces. The VaiNet access point (AP10) allows connection of up to 32 RFL100 data loggers. The temperature data loggers of the RFL100 series work with fixed or cable probes, covering a measurement range between -196 and +90 °C. In early 2018, Vaisala already launched the wireless VaiNet humidity and temperature data logger RFL100. All data loggers in the RFL series use the viewLinc 5.0 software for monitoring, alarm management, and reporting.

“We have received very positive feedback from users of the RFL series temperature and humidity data loggers. Customers appreciate the wireless VaiNet data loggers for various reasons, such as the highly secure data transfer system. The VaiNet system uses a low-level signal whose propagation is not disturbed by obstacles commonly found in industrial environments and storage buildings, such as metallic racking systems or reinforced concrete walls. Users particularly mention the convenient and cost-effective installation in wireless networks. Especially in large and complex storage environments, this is a significant advantage,” explains Anniina Uotila, Product Manager in Vaisala's Industrial Measurements division.

“A reliable signal with high range, like the RFL100 offers, makes laying power or Ethernet cables to each data logger in a warehouse unnecessary. Another advantage for customers is that they can easily reposition the RFL100 data loggers if needed. This is made possible by the user-friendly viewLinc monitoring system. Combined with the large signal range and high data security, the monitoring software has proven to be a trustworthy solution, especially for our customers in GxP-regulated companies,” Uotila concludes.

The connection of the RFL100 series temperature data loggers with the viewLinc software requires no local configuration. The system encrypts and verifies all communication before storing the information in a secure database that ensures data integrity. The resistance temperature sensors guarantee excellent measurement stability. The choice of probe depends on the required temperature range. In addition to the plastic probe HMP115 and stainless steel probe HMP110, the latest option now available is the stainless steel temperature probe TMP115 with a wide measurement range of -196 to +90 °C.

The first deliveries of the RFL100 series temperature data loggers are planned for January 2019.
