Vaisala now offers accredited calibration also for carbon dioxide measuring devices
Vaisala, the world's leading provider of measurement technology, is expanding its service offering to include carbon dioxide calibrations according to ISO/IEC 17025. Initially, accredited calibration services are available for Vaisala CARBOCAP(TM) carbon dioxide sensors of the GMP250 series. Over the course of this year, the service will be extended to the Vaisala GMP220 sensor series.
The new accredited calibration service meets the quality system requirements that demanding safety and manufacturing processes, especially in the pharmaceutical and food industries, impose. Accurate carbon dioxide measurements help ensure, for example, the correct pH values for cell cultivation or the optimal room or process air in these areas. Incorrect measurements can lead to costly and incorrect decisions. In the most critical applications, they can even pose a risk to life.
"Calibrating measuring devices is crucial for any company that relies on measurement data for its decision-making processes. Even the best high-performance measuring devices require regular calibration to consistently deliver data with maximum accuracy. Accredited calibration is particularly important in the life sciences sector or in FDA-regulated (Food and Drugs Administration) industries," explains Juha Ryödi, Head of Life Cycle Services at Vaisala. "Companies operating in these strictly regulated industries or medical laboratories adhering to the quality and competence requirements of ISO 15189 now have the optimal calibration solution for their high-quality Vaisala measuring devices with the expansion of our service offering. By utilizing the ISO/IEC 17025-certified calibration service from the manufacturer, companies can ensure they meet the critical requirements for ongoing accuracy as specified in regulations."
With its accredited CO2 service, Vaisala covers all regulatory requirements and thus contributes to ensuring compliance and process quality. The Finnish Accreditation Service (FINAS), a member of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), regularly audits Vaisala calibration laboratories. This includes reviewing quality and management systems as well as technical capabilities for providing the service, such as the traceability of measurements to international SI units.
The accredited calibration service includes a certificate with "As-Found" and "As-Left" data, which may also include a correction of the calibration curve to ensure the highest accuracy. Typically, the accredited Vaisala calibration service covers three calibration points to guarantee the full functionality of the device across the sensor's specified measurement range. Additionally, up to six customer-specific calibration points can be defined if required for operational-critical reasons.
