Pfeiffer Vacuum, the world’s leading provider of vacuum technology, will present innovative vacuum solutions at the analytica trade fair in Munich from April 1 to 4, 2014. Visitors can exchange ideas with Pfeiffer Vacuum experts about innovative product developments for use in laboratory technology, analytics, and biotechnology at booth A1.203.

HiPace® Turbomolecular Pumps - For the Highest Demands in the Analytics Market

Pfeiffer Vacuum, the market leader in turbomolecular pumps with integrated drive electronics, has established a compact and powerful series in the analytics market with the HiPace family. An outstanding feature of these turbomolecular pumps is the unique rotor design with proven hybrid bearing technology, which was invented by Pfeiffer Vacuum over 30 years ago and has been continuously developed since then. Thanks to these technical features, very high values are achieved in terms of pumping capacity, fore-vacuum compatibility, and gas throughput, as well as in the compression of light gases. The turbomolecular pumps operate particularly quietly and with low vibration. The bearing design also leads to long service intervals and thus high cost-effectiveness. The functional aluminum housing makes the pumps extremely lightweight. An inert gas connection protects the bearings from particles or oxidizing gases. The result is optimal integration capability of the pumps. Their high durability and the associated high system availability set new standards.

Vacuum often plays a key role in the successful execution of entire production processes. The costs incurred due to faulty batches or production failures can quickly amount to several million euros depending on the application. Therefore, maximum reliability of all installed components is crucial. Turbomolecular pumps today often achieve operating times of up to 100,000 hours. This corresponds to approximately eleven years of continuous operation. During this period, they should cause as few planned interruptions for maintenance or service as possible. For this reason, Pfeiffer Vacuum’s turbomolecular pumps feature advanced diagnostic functions. Coupled with the unique ability to replace bearings and consumables in the field, this results in maximum availability. The integrated drive electronics significantly reduce wiring effort. State-of-the-art drive technology minimizes energy consumption, and control options are diverse.

SplitFlow™ Turbomolecular Pumps - For Simultaneous Evacuation of Multiple Chambers

The technology of Pfeiffer Vacuum’s SplitFlow turbomolecular pump enables the replacement of multiple pump systems with a single vacuum system. A SplitFlow pump can evacuate two or three sequential chambers of a mass spectrometer system simultaneously as a double or triple pump. As forepumps, inexpensive, small, and dry membrane pumps can be used depending on the gas load. This means a significant reduction in investment and operating costs. Another advantage is the small footprint of the vacuum system. The pumping capacity of SplitFlow pumps generally ranges from 690 l/s to 10 l/s. Small models with a pumping capacity from 10 l/s to 0.1 l/s have been developed for portable analysis systems. SplitFlow pumps are successfully used not only in analytical instruments but also in leak detectors, whose analysis principle is also based on mass spectrometry.

Multi-Stage Roots Blower Pumps ACP - Dry Forepump for Particulate-Free Applications

The multi-stage Roots blower pumps of the ACP series from adixen by Pfeiffer Vacuum are suitable for all vacuum applications where the highest cleanliness of the vacuum process is required. A special feature of the pump is that the pump system consists of wear-free parts. This allows for an unparalleled lifespan and high reliability even in demanding applications. The ACP is the oil-free alternative to the traditional oil-sealed rotary vane pump. Since there are no wearing seals between the individual stages and the rotors run contact-free, there is no seal debris in the pump system, unlike other oil-free pumps. The motor with frequency converter ensures constant performance of the ACP, independent of mains voltage and frequency. High backing gas throughput and an external silencer with a drain screw enable the pumping of larger amounts of condensable vapors (up to 1,000 g/h of pure water vapor).

Integrated Pressure Measurement - Direct Installation, No Special Wiring

The combination of vacuum generation and vacuum measurement is the new concept of integrated pressure sensing. Very small vacuum sensors are mounted on Pfeiffer Vacuum turbomolecular pumps or chambers. The advantage is that this connection has only one electrical interface. This greatly simplifies installation for the user. Elaborate wiring and software/hardware adjustments are a thing of the past. This saves time and money. The sensor communicates digitally with the turbomolecular pump, providing a more reliable pressure signal than analog transmission.

This pressure signal can be retrieved together with status information of the turbomolecular pump such as speed, current consumption, etc., via the RS-485 interface.
